[Iko] There is an increasing belief among rival executives that Jaren Jackson Jr. could be traded following the finalization of a Ja Morant deal.

  1. If they get rid of Ja and Jaren, that means they chose Tuomas Iisalo over them.

And when the Grizz are a middle of the road team with the young core, remember that.

  2. We held onto Ja all the way down his decline. I wouldn’t be shocked if it takes JJJ added to the deal to get morant moved. And we’re looking at getting back some dead weight contracts and/or some cash.

Holding on the last 2.5 years was the worst mistake in grizzlies history. Time to start calling for Kleimans head.

  3. This would hurt more than Ja for me, but there is no point for Jaren to stick around. He doesn’t fit the rebuild window.

  4. Oh, well if rival executives are saying it, it must be true. I wouldn’t be mad if we traded Jaren, but it’s not gonna happen this year

  5. If this is true, this is just the funniest way to blow a team up for literally nothing.

I think it’s not true, but if it is then Zach has to go. There’s just some insane negligence here to essentially turn our stars into negative assets right before they’re traded.

  6. Man this front office seemingly sees Toumas as this one of a kind coach for Memphis to potentially get rid of the 2 most talented players the franchise has ever had. Never seen a coach win this type of battle against the teams best players.

  7. Dude when I commented “this is Coward’s team now” yesterday I didn’t mean “let’s trade everyone but him” lmao

  8. Not happening, I know other FOs and executives in the league want us to trade Jaren but it’s not happening.

  9. And people thought I was speaking some out of this world language when I suggested this during the summer.

  10. “Jackson — while a stark contrast to Morant and despite Memphis’ insistence on him being a key part of its future — could be the next domino to fall at some point assuming a Morant trade is realized.”

That’s a lot of caveats. Seems like speculation and reaching to me

  11. Maybe controversial but I wouldn’t be mad if we move on from being built with a max guard that can’t shoot and a max big that can’t rebound

  12. Doesn’t surprise me. If u trade ja its best u go for a rebuild atp. Jaren is good but he doesnt have what it takes to be the lead on a team that wants to contend in any way. Its stupid to keep him for a rebuild too, hes a good 2nd – 3rd option that would get us a fair bit and he doesnt fit the rebuild window unless we hit on a star instantly. Coward could be that star, but I think hes gonna take atleast another season or 2 till hes a bonafied star like ja was. Better to just rebuild and with next draft being stacked and us having a good drafting record with zach we should hopefully get a good player in it.

  13. If we blow this all up before Ja, JJJ, and Edey get the chance to play together (and before Ty and Scotty are back at all), imma be pretty disappointed. If our mind is made up about moving Ja/his mind is made up about moving, then oh well I guess, but it seems very shortsighted.

And as unhealthy/bad as Ja has been, the chances that he gets healthy and plays well is better than the chance we’re any good without him. And we’d just immediately lose so many fans without Ja. Which shouldn’t be the main focus, but shouldn’t be ignored either.
