  1. This reminds me of when my middle school had my last name misspelled by one letter, and my mom had to go in with my birth certificate for proof so they could correct almost a full years worth of paperwork.

  2. The transliteration of Russian typically implies a Y sound as part of the E. Like how Evgeni Malkin is pronounced Yevgeni Malkin.

  3. No wonder he didn’t feel the love in Columbus – they spelled his name wrong for 5 fucking years!!!!!!

Can you imagine working in any capacity… in any position at a company for 5 years and they spell your name wrong the whole time? Most people would pull a Milton Waddams!

Now imagine you’re one of the 20 most important people there.

  4. It just got lost in translation. It is spelled Egor but pronounced Yegor.
Just like Evgeni is pronounced Yevgeni.

Source: me, a native Russian speaker.

  5. at least once a season there’s always one guy that’s like “oh, that’s not how my name is spelled/pronounced. but it’s cool”

  6. Didn’t we already know this? Pretty sure Taylor Haase said something about this at some point. I’ve known for a while.
