PLAYMAKERS: New Orleans Saints Face Draft Decision Investing In IMPACT Players On Offense Or Defense

The New Orleans Saints are primed to land a playmaker with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, sparking heated debate: should they prioritize a dynamic offensive weapon or bolster their defense? With prospects like Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey, Clemson’s Peter Woods, and Ohio State’s Caleb Downs on defense, alongside offensive standouts such as Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love, Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson and Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, the Saints’ direction remains wide open.

Day two and three of the draft promise equal intrigue, as New Orleans weighs waiting on second-round receiver options like Indiana’s Elijah Sarratt or Louisville’s Chris Bell, despite injury concerns.

Examining mid-round targets and the appeal of versatile tight ends like Max Klare and Michael Trigg. With Chris Olave’s All-Pro season highlighting the receiving corps’ potential, Saints fans have plenty to debate as offseason rumors heat up.

  1. The saints need to draft that running back from Notre Dame or get the wide receiver from Ohio State we need playmakers on offense if when Chris is out who is Tyler throwing a ball to

  2. It's all about timing: Get the early Kaddun bag, let it explode, and then switch to the 'boomer safe haven' of gold before the crypto market cools down

  3. Congrats to Chris Olave on his recognition but as an OG when you mentioned "Our man Dan" as a former Saint who likewise received that recognition it brought a smile to my face. To those of you who don't know of or remember Danny Abramowitz he was a 17th round (that's right back in the day you had 17 rounds) draft choice who was cut but refused to leave camp, ended up becoming a starter and to this day had the best hands I've ever seen on a Saints receiver and I would say the league but I didn't follow all the reams so I can't say that definitively and, last I heard still loves in Covington.

  4. I’ve seen to many games this season where the saints had 0 or 3 points in the first half, we have to improve on offense and if 1 of the top 2 receivers are available at 8 I say we take Him, but if an elite pass rusher is available, I wouldn’t be mad with an edge either, but my dream scenario for the saints this offseason is signing a top guard in free agency, and drafting a top receiver in the 1st round to sure up the offense

  5. please for the love of god get a offensive playmaker at 8. We are LAST in NFL in the redzone getting a playmaker helps Kellen, Shough and Olave. We already have a top 10 defense, wouldn't it make sense to go offense or am i just dumb??

  6. Wait till next year to consider paying Olave. That’s two years in a row he wouldn’t have been available for the postseason. I need receivers who can make it to the playoffs. Especially if I’m going to pay them 30mil/yr.

  7. no one seems to remember we have 2 wr's on IR that are supposed to be good AND we just picked up a 6'6" wr out of the CFL. we might have the 5 wr in the building already making it not so much a need. o and d line are bigger needs

  8. If they sign a wide receiver in free agency then take Jeremiah love. We can also sign a guard in free agency then we could draft a defensive lineman or corner in the second. I would prefer we sign Romeo Doubs, or we can not sign a reciever and take Elijah seratt second round, a lot of things we could do

  9. Hey Ross, who cares how fast you are if you can't catch the damn ball, don't block your position & are always getting hurt? Jeremiah Love has touched the football 496 times in his career at Notre Dame. You know how many times he's fumbled? Once. He's a tough inside runner who can catch like a wide out & make tons of people miss in space with absolute break away speed. Elijah Sarrat, just like every other Indiana receiver can catch the ball & blocks his position as well as anyone can. Any of Indiana's WRs could not only make the Saints roster, they would massively improve the receiver room. I also love the center from Indiana in the 3rd round as well. Harold Perkins in the 4th & we need another tight end desperately.

  10. Draft best talent available in the first whether it’s Downs, Reese, Love, Bain Jr. Then go WR in the 2nd, TE in the 3rd, defense the rest of the way. Sign a proven guard in free agency

  11. My dream scenario is taking Love at 8 and Bell in the second round, while addressing guard in free agency. Would add a lot of explosiveness that the offense is currently lacking

  12. Jadarian price over Love. Those ND RB's are nasty .. Price is a scoring machine compared to his teammate….that would be my pick but I'm just a regular dude.
