They need more. Bregman doesn't make up for the loss of Tucker.
I wish they could have traded shaw instead of Cassie
Hot take: Moisés Ballesteros will be the obvious candidate for the third spot in the order by season’s end.
Everybody wants to talk about “the loss of Tucker.” As it turned out, it wasn’t much of a loss. As a matter of fact, he stunk the last 3 months of the season, and they had to play him. AND… his poor performance affected PCA and Suzuki. But that’s PCA and Suzuki’s problem. The entire make-up of the team is different with Bregman. I think they are fine.
Idea… now that we got Bregman, let's revisit Tucker on a short term high AAV deal with opt outs. It makes sense for both sides. Just a thought.
Matt and Sam you guys should really break away from Locked On and start your own channel. Yall are the best of Locked On channels and can grow independently by continuing to be the best cubs duo
When you started talking about Pete, you answered all your questions. Too much variance. It's futile to try to think of a lineup that will last. It will change frequently.
I think breaking up Bregman, Hoerner, Ballesteros is ideal. Hoerner 2, Bregman 4, Ballesteros 6.(or even 4-6-8)
Way too many clutch situation strikeouts by the rest of the guys. I think this would cut down on the man on 3rd no outs situations where Suzuki, Happ,Swanson all strike out and can’t get the runner in.
It seems like Hoyer is going for it so why not top it off with Bellinger or a real closer. The lineup would be complete. Happ 3rd is trash
Hot take: PCA is the best player in baseball and it will show this year.
Totally agree Happ should not be batting 3rd
Thoughts regarding the roster first then the batting order
I think Hodge is odd man out because Assad has earned the spot. I think they really need his stretch ability to eat innings.
Yes, it is Alcântara‘s time to put up or shut up. I think he is Ian Happ’s replacement when they don’t extend/bring him back after 2026
If Austin falls flat could you see Jonathan Long?
As for the main batting order:
2B Horner
1B Busch
3B Bregman
RF Suzuki
LF Happ
CF PCA
C Kelly
DH Ballesteros
SS Swanson
I think Matthew Boyd earned opening day start. As for the rest of the rotation depends on if Horton is healthy and whether Edward Cabrera likes pitching in the cold.
Boyd
Cabrera
Imanaga
Horton
Taillon
Busch
Horner
Bregman
Seiya
Happ
Baiestaros
Amaya
Armstrong
Swanson
The bullpen terrifies me.
as long as Taylor stops flirting with boog mid game every game she can comeback
I’m a country boy who lives in NC and just couldn’t live in Chicago. However, every year around con time I am totally jealous of you guys. Also every day at 2:20pm EST you guys can go to Wrigley. Go Cubs.
Alex = overrated
Alcantara will be given every chance to be 4th OF because he's out of options
Tauchman #4 outfielder
I love mo baller but him after Nico terrifies me of a million double plays if they don’t start doing more hit and runs
Nico needs to bat 2
Not sure why rushing Ballesteros into a DH role is obvious. I think Shaw could move into that role and for late inning defense he could slide to third if we think he is a better 3B. Ballesteros could still end up at AAA working at catcher. Shaw earned playing time last year. If the Cubs are considering trading Nico, then having Shaw prove he can rake will be the selling point. Or Shaw becomes the trade piece.
I am going to go on record and say this. Ballesteros will be hitting in the No.5 hole by May with PCA going to the seventh spot. Ballesteros is legit and he will prove that with every day reps
