Everyone’s looking at 14th, but he’s the 2nd ranked defenseman after Schaefer, which looks right.
That’s still better than the atrocious 30th ranking (under guys like fucking Anton Silayev of all people lol) he was last summer.. but man Pronman is hilarious in his doubling down of his terrible opinion.
But honestly I’m not too bothered about this list. Guys like Will Smith, Cutter Gauthier and Sennecke all being above him is frustrating but at least he is the rightly ranked 2nd defenseman in this list.
For starters, I think Hutson is our best U23. Even though both Slaf and Demidov are great.

Everyone is upset about Hutson’s ranking and I’m out here shaking my head at Oliver Kapanen at 123 or whatever. Behind Reid Schaefer, with all of 20 NHL games and 6 points, Logan Mailloux (who has the worst advanced stats of all defencemen), and 20+ prospects who have never played a minute of pro hockey lmao.
If there’s any reason for you to disregard this list, it’s the Kapanen disrespect.

It’s crazy to ignore someone who has already done the crazy thing and rank someone who you think *could* put up those stats ahead of him. All these kids are great though, really not too worried about arguing who is better… But if you are going to do it… Sometimes people just get an idea stuck in their head and can’t reevaluate.
I honestly wouldn’t trade Hutson for anyone in the league. He fits here.
At the very least Ivan is now rightly considered superior to Michkov… from whom we’ve had a fall from grace jesus christ he’s 20th after being top 5 for a long ass time.
Also man Parekh at 38th is gonna get Tomatoes thrown at him, but I quite frankly agree with him. Parekh’s defensive deficiencies are way too great for him to be a top pair dman.

I am 100% convinced that Huston did unspeakable things to all of Pronsman’s female family members to have such an inability to admit that he was wrong, size is not the only thing that matters and Lane Huston is a bonafide NHL superstar.
These list matter for fanbases that need hope because they arent currently successful (they used to matter to me until this year). We have success right now with the youngest team in the league that is only going to get better.
Who gives a fuck about these lists or how hutson should be a tier higher or whatever with the season we are having.
Let Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim etc care about these list, we’re going to the playoffs.

look im *not* saying Hutson is the same level as Makar was in his 2nd season, and his defensive side was maybe better (don’t remember watching him actually) with a harder shot but it’s interesting that after a very similar season that Hutson is having, more even-strength pts than him too, Pronman saw Makar as a ‘projected NHL elite player’ while Hutson who isn’t even bad defensively and doesn’t rely on the PP, can barely make the top 15.
