CRUCIAL REPORT: Giants are “AGGRESSIVELY” Pursuing a TRADE for Brendan Donovan or Nico Hoerner
The Giants are officially in the mix — and this time, it’s not vague interest. According to Jeff Passan, San Francisco is aggressively pursuing a second baseman and is actively engaged in trade talks with the Cubs for Nico Hoerner and the Cardinals for Brendan Donovan. We break down what each player would bring, why the Giants are prioritizing this move now, and how an infield featuring Matt Chapman, Willy Adames, Rafael Devers, and either Hoerner or Donovan could be one of the best in baseball. Plus, a full winter roundup as Alex Bregman lands a massive deal, Bo Bichette meets with the Phillies, the Yankees continue negotiations with Cody Bellinger, Nolan Arenado heads to Arizona, and why the Giants could still be lining up a smaller trade this week. Is this the moment the Giants finally push their chips in?

Just our luck the one time Passan tweets something that isn't a done deal it's about us.
Like popcorn, rising rumors quickly settle down and become stale and cold 🥶
We not aggressively pursuing shit.
The words "trade rumor" are 100% MEANINGLESS
It appears Rico Hoerner is headed to San Francisco. – Jon Heyman
Bichette….great hitter, defense sketchy
Its a big nothing burger
I might be insane here but I much prefer Nico Hoerner to Donovan. But maybe that's because I'm a homer for the hometown kids (and I did play against Hoerner in high school).
If it was me though I'd try to get both of them, put Donovan in LF, shift Ramos back to RF and lockdown Hoerner at 2B.
A lineup of:
1. Brendan Donovan LF (L)
2. Nico Hoerner 2B (R)
3. Rafael Devers 1B (L)
4. Willy Adames SS (R)
5. Heliot Ramos RF (R)
6. Bryce Eldridge DH (L)
7. Matt Chapman 3B (R)
8. Patrick Bailey C (S)
9. Jung-Hoo Lee CF (L)
Looks pretty balanced to me both in terms of contact vs power approach and LH hitters vs RH hitters. Plus Pretty good defense across the board (I have faith that Lee will improve (his arm is an elite weapon regardless though), plus Ramos has historically better in RF but I don't trust him to be better than an average fielder).
