  1. Is Alex Bregman, a 32 year old next season, worth a five-year $175 million dollar contract? I don't like seeing the Sox make big commitments to players who are surely going to decline simply due to age.

  2. Man after working at Fenway Fest I told my regulars that the Red Sox don't want to signed Bregman to a long term contract for more than 4 years and they told me that they will signed him but guess what, I've been watching baseball most of my life and the Red Sox had 10 years of greatness with having 4 world series in the last 30 years. In the last 10 years or so they did nothing to hype up the team of course they signed and traded players like David Price, Chris Sale, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, and more but that was after they signed them to long term contract and of course mostly they were good for a few years before being wear and tear on the field. I think the Red Sox gave up by doing a short term contracts and signing a Triple A players for pennies on the dollar and we would never go back to the Red Sox that had huge Talents as long as John Henry and Tom Werner are there as the owners of the team.

  3. if this team stands pat and doesn’t do anything else at all before spring training starts there one Trevor Story injury away from last place this year and I’m not kidding by the way the Pittsburgh Pirates have signed more free agents than we have this year we have signed none also you think these idiots could have gotten Brandon Lowe from Tampa who has killed us for years and the pirates got him what a absolute travesty this team is a disgrace and the pirates also signed Ryan Ohearn to play first base so this team if they actually signed Ohearn to play first who was not expensive and traded for Lowe to play second instead of trading players for Contreras and resigned Bregman I would have been happy with that and they easily could’ve made these things happen without spending ridiculous money 💰 another epic fail by Breslow and this Organization not being creative enough to do other things what a joke by the way Cora Is going to leave next year also so next year is going to be even worse they better hope for a stoppage of the season

  4. Breslow isn't up for the job, Henry is a corpse, Warner and Kennedy are both goofs. I disagree with Mazz this team is a 4th place in the AL East team at best.

  5. Their obsession with “winning the deal” has been their downfall. Good players aren’t cheap, John Henry himself said that. “Well, baseball players are expensive…” So they clearly are not interested in winning anymore, but having a consistent business. Fenway is now a tourist trap, which is why ticket prices always go up no matter how bad the team is. As a lifelong fan, this is infuriating! This isn’t the baseball team I fell in love with growing up

  6. All the Sox are to this ownership group is a profit center to fund their other ventures. They have no interest in putting a team together that can win a championship. Such an embarassment. Just sell the team already!

  7. I've thought for quite awhile that once Ortiz, Pedroia, Varitek, etc. were gone then the golden years of Red Sox for John Henry were over and he just didn't care about winning anymore. They slayed the Yankees, won 4 championships (impressive) and I think the the luster of the shiny toy wore off and he was ready to move on to other things. And we've seen it with his investments elsewhere that were just capturing his attention more than the Red Sox. If you're an owner of a franchise as historic as the Red Sox, I think you have to be committed to winning, and when you aren't, just sell your stake and move on. That won't happen of course until the Red Sox aren't profitable (which they'll continue to be no doubt) but the fans have surely caught on to John Henry's lack of commitment to the product/star power on the field. And it doesn't look like it's going to change or get better anytime soon.

  8. This team is doomed with this business strategy. Players aren't going to come here (superstars). Expect to see big contracts through the farm and mediocre or fair to cheap contracts to superstars. Hit up the Goodwill or Salvation Army for FA.

  9. We are talking about 10 million dollars. These ball players are way over paid as it is.This why my cable television bill cost so much more and people are getting tired of paying for this crap.A lot of people are dropping cable television because sports networks are going to lose subscribers. I wish I was paid one million dollars to play baseball

  10. Thank you Mazz. I am so glad that I stopped rooting for the Sox because of this ownership's arrogance. I now root for 2 NL teams. The Sox still disgust me, because of things like this. They just don't p me off anymore. I just feel bad for Sox fans. They deserve better.

  11. They’re taking the Chicago Bulls route. A historic marketable team that will always sell out seats if the team is average. It’s about maximizing profits for them. If they can bring out a team that’s in the middle of the pack every year and always makes it to the wild card round. That’s all they want. Their profits don’t go up by much just by making it to the World Series.

  12. I don't blame Breslow for this, this is all Henry
Going into last year Devers was making 35m and Bregman 40m that's 75m and its gone so the Sox are +75 over last year and so far they spent 20m on washed up Sonny Gray

  13. Tony great job of using highly intelligent and informed sources to analyze this Titanic blunder. 1 point you didn't mention is managements obstinate insistence on not offering Bregman a no trade deal. What that said to him is these SOBs can just dump me anytime they want like they did Devers and so many others. Absolutely infuriating how arrogant and miserly this cheap billionaire is.

  14. Everytime breslow opens his mouth the only thing that comes out is crap. They are going to field what they have and hope they strike lighting in a bottle. But I believe this team is going to crap themselves and fight the rays for last place.

  15. Mazz half the fan base thought Bregman was not coming back. AJ is not accurate, and I donthink the fan base deserves that kind of shot. We don't think we are "high and mighty".

  16. I hate John Henry and Breslow with everything I've got. They are the worst gm/owner combo in baseball. Just sell the team already. stop doing this to the city of Boston.

  17. Breslow is an amateur in way over his head. He is nothing but Henry's “Coffee Boy”. I am so tired of this bs and their Rube Goldberg style of patch it together management. They are a wealthy team too and a top
market team and they act like the Tampa Bay Small Market Red Sox. Cheap Ownership and an amateur as a Baseball ops guy in Breslow.

  18. Thanks for content Mazz the problem is if your analysis is correct, the two other times at least they won the WS whereas last year they only got in as a WC and didn’t go anywhere. Although in 2021 they did make the playoffs and won a round, they did not increase player talent after 2018 so maybe that year was a fluke. I guess only making the playoffs as a WC (2021 and 2025) causes no spending unlike 2013 and 2018. Under their financial austerity (efficiency model) as a big market revenue team not willing to pay for FA, they haven’t won anything and really aren’t close to being a championship caliber team. It seems like they need a Luchino type who sought the stars and advocated vs. Theo and the minor league restocking model. So what is the value of Theo now since he appears not to influence ownership to obtained FAs. I think in Chicago he was able to bring in FAs to bolster holes.

  19. It’s more than that Mazz! Craig Breslow is just in over his head at his job, plain and simple! Sure he has a lot of science degrees, and he is a bright man, but he can’t run with the big boys! It’s one of those cases where, he is so smart, but he lacks common sense. He should be teaching over at MIT or something of that nature because he has proven time and again that he’s not up to the job. The sooner the Red Sox figure that out, the sooner they can move on from him! Fans aren’t as s stupid as Kennedy and Breslow think they are, and more and more they are not buying the off season and trade deadline bullsh!t that they espouse.

  20. The Red Sox are off the hook for now for their lack of serious commitment to winning. Mainly due to the Patriots’ successes being foremost in most people’s minds right now. I’ll give them credit if they actually do before the coming season, but I don’t see it right now.

  21. I believe the red Sox purposely sabatoshed the Rafael Devers situation so they could justify unloading his contract and trading him for a six pack of sunflower seeds.
