Although we came up short, I'd like thank coach Mike Tomlin. This was an overdue move, but he still won football games for us and gave us decades of competitive football. Wish him nothing but the best. Let the rebuild start!

  1. 19 years of consistency. Steadiest hand in the fucking game. If you aren’t crying you aren’t a Stillers fan. Thank you Coach T

  2. Indeed. Ive been critical of him for years, but I really do wish him well in his next steps

  3. Anyone who wants to shit on this man, ain’t a real fan. It’s been time for some time. But I’d rather have gone through this than whatever the browns call what they’ve been doing for the past 19 years

  4. Absolutely Legend. Love him or hate him you can’t deny the service that he has done. Also considering he wasn’t technically fired and still under contract if someone wanted him they would have to trade for him right?

  5. We can have been critical of him, and it was definitely time to move on, but he should still be applauded on his way out. I dont think all of our failures were on him, and he definitely coached some teams way above the standard. I will miss seeing him on the sidelines.

  6. I think his defenders seeing a lot of us wanting him gone meant we hated him. No, I don’t think anyone hated him, things just got stale. Sometimes a change of scenery is needed. Look at Harbaugh. Thankful for all he did, it was just time to move on.

  7. Will always love this man. Nothing to do with his coaching, but the character and leadership he represented our city with. Thank you Mike 🖤💛

  8. He’s a good person. And he was never a terrible coach. But it’s time to move on and take a risk. Andy Reid in Philadelphia situation all over again. Best for everyone involved.

  9. Not a Steelers fan, but I wish he announced he was leaving at the beginning of the season. That way he could’ve gotten a proper goodbye tour and he would’ve been revered properly.

  10. Thank you Coach T for 19 years of great service. I hope the haters are right and maybe the game has moved on and a change will bring more success. With that said I’d take another 19 years of winning seasons without a Super Bowl vs the never ending “rebuilding” chaos other franchises go through. Stability means more than people realize.

  11. Was definitely time. I wanted this to happen. But now that’s it’s happened, I feel sad.

  12. Love the guy, appreciate his efforts for the football team. I’ve loved my entire life, but it was time. Tomlin will always be a part of Pittsburgh.

  13. I wish him well, but I was time. It think it’s almost like the Andy Reid/Philly situation where a change in scenery is mutually beneficial.

  14. When the team was rolling he was the most fun coach to watch in the league. This move had to happen but Coach T will always be a Steeler legend

  15. As a 22 year old I’ve never know anything besides Mike Tomlin football. I’m excited to see where we go from here. Side note: no shot Rodger’s returns here without Mike T

  16. He was a very good coach. Consistently performing at or above average with mixed quality teams is objectively challenging. But football is entertainment, and taking risks is much more entertaining than consistency.

  17. Coach T tops my list of guys I’d love to just sit and talk about life with. Wish him nothing but love

  18. What a man. Massive shoes to fill.

It’s gonna get worse before it gets better.

  19. Fitting: He leaves the Steelers tied with Chuck Noll for most regular-season victories in franchise history with 193. (Ray Fittipado, Post-Gazette)

  20. An amazing coach who did so much great stuff for this team. It was time to go, but I’ll always appreciate everything he did for the Steelers.

Best of luck on your next adventure, Coach.

  21. I’m really gonna miss him just for being a good leader and person. For all there is to criticize about lack of playoff wins and other things, I’ve never heard a player have anything bad to say about him and he genuinely does seem like a great dude. I’m glad he got that one final win over the ravens and AFCN title.

Godspeed coach T, I’ll be rooting for you wherever you go

  22. Go and get every bag you want on TV brother. You did good, despite what this fanbase might say. Leader of men. Respect.

  23. One of the best leaders of men the game has ever known. Evidenced vociferously and repeatedly by his peers, his players, and his organization. Few—if any—compare.

I hope he takes some very well-earned time off and “runs toward” coaching again. He will (as he damn well should) have his choice of appointments.

It was beyond time. Now, we look forward to answering the question we’ve seemed for so long scared to ask: well who do we get if he’s gone?

*The Steelers and Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh and the Ravens have the chance to do the funniest things*

  24. This bums me out and has me tearing up. A lot of us grew up with this man. He’s smart, no nonsense, well loved, talented, and funny as hell with his Tomlinisms. I know things change and nothing lasts forever, but we’re such a disposable society and I was hoping he’d weather the storm. Can’t say I blame him; so much ever increasing vitriol in our online world and so many armchair experts too. Man will always be a Pittsburgh legend. Best of luck to him in whatever he decides to do and wherever he lands.

  25. Love the dude, the coolest HC ever, it was a pleasure watching him on the sideline all these years, it was time for a change for both parties !

  26. Never once talked bad about him nor called for his firing and I’m glad he got to go out on his own terms.

Thank you Coach for your tenure and can’t wait for the day you get into Canton.

  27. Nothing will make me not love this man but it’s very clearly time and glad it is happening this way and not via a firing or something.

  28. He was a solid coach. I’ll miss him but it was definitely time to make a big change.

I wish him well with whatever he does next.

  29. Defended Tomlin until the end. Glad he is going out on his own terms, he deserves it just for the Tomlinism’s.

  30. My fondest memories of this team came with Tomlin as our head coach. Class act through thick and thin.

  31. That beard used to be jet black, and now look at all them greys. This fuckin’ guy right here, he is something else.
