Just beautiful shots of Soldier Field and the city. I get all the things that make this stadium a pain in the ass. The logistics stink, it’s too crowded, bathroom
lines are horrifying. But man playoff football on the lakefront had me feeling so type of way. When the team is good, the home field advantage is on one of the tops in the league and makes for a magical view. Second guessing losing that for a no character dome.

I’ll miss the weather more than anything.
I felt this way on Saturday at the game. I figure when the bears are winning I’d be happy with them playing in a muddy ditch.
I’ve always loved Soldier. The Burbs are where the money and comfort are, but it’s not the same.
Edit: typo
Got married in the Colonnades so every shot like this, every game we attend, and every magical season like this one is extra sweet!🐻👍
Keep it
Soldier Field and the Chicago Bears… home. It just feels right. A special season to celebrate this great place and we’re not done yet. Soldier Field forever
I’ve completely changed my stance after the last game. I’m a season ticket holder and was ready to go indoors to arlington(I live about 25 min away). But after that playoff game I never went to leave. I’ll wait in the insane bathroom lines, eat the awful food, be penned in like cattle getting out of the game, you just can’t recreate that environment anywhere else.
Even in the bad seasons, this place has so much character.
I think it’s a real shame so many NFL stadiums aren’t in the cities.
People defend stuff like moving the Bears out of Chicago by saying the 49ers don’t play in San Francisco, the Jets and Giants don’t play in New York, but I think that stuff sucks too
It’s just part of a larger deterioration of civic pride
It’s part of the trend towards individualism and away from community.
Driving an F150 from my house in the suburbs to the stadium parking lot, walking in to the cookie cutter dome, having gambling and crypto ads blazing from every surface, climbing back in my F150 and driving back to my cul-de-sac just seems like a really soulless, depressing society to live in
football is romantic. winning and postseason football can make even solder field feel like a place we should never leave.
then the turf monster gets you again.
Make sure you make your feelings known in the survey they sent out. I understand needing a new stadium but it should 100% be in Illinois, in Chicago if at all possible, and outdoors (not happening) but still they asked for our opinion. Give it to them.
Game was super fun on Saturday, but trying to time pee breaks only to fight through the concourse is not ideal. Getting in and out is a total cluster, but will say the nearly 2 mile walk to the 31st Street lot was a whole lot more fun after fucking the Packers.
I wish we’d just keep it.
The problem is it’s just not maintainable. The player facilities are awful too. The grass/field ultimately has caused a lot kf our injuries too.
It sure is a beautiful photo. Last time I was there, I was 5, so around 1982. So I don’t recall all the negatives, that fans have dealt with year after year. My Dad reminds me sometimes. lol
I think the logistics part is over blown. Any big stadium has a shit time getting people in and out after a game that was packed. Theres only so many people that can go at a time. A new stadium wont change that
Playing meaningful football in December and January also made me realize the benefit of home field advantage in the cold
I love the fact that we play downtown, right on the lake, framed by the skyline. Every time I watch a game and see that beautiful view it reminds me how much I love this city. The Bears are Chicago.
All I really wanted was a retractable roof. Cold weather games with an opportunity to be able to host NCAA tournaments WrestleMania and other big events. I remember going to a Bears vs saints Thursday night winter game 15-20 years ago and it was a blast I also went to the slip and slide game against the niners in the rain and that was awesome. Soldier field and the Bears have admittedly given me some great times! I’ve also been exposed to the bad weather games and have enjoyed it! Not that I make any decisions but I’m not opposed to any option at this point as long as it’s in Illinois. The thought of the Bears leaving the state makes me sick and feeling betrayed. Again I understand I have nothing to do with the team other than just being a fan. Just couldn’t imagine becoming the new jersey jets or giants. Claiming a team that no longer even plays in your state just doesn’t sit right with me.
Keep soldier, just slightly update it.
Me.
Idc about all that fancy shit. Legacy and location matter most and Soldier field wins in both.
We can make improvements to accessing it. Im sure other things can be done with renovating too.
I wish they would just stay fucking put. I dont want one of these souless middle of no where parking lot filled junk holes
I’ve been to countless Bears games in the past 45+ years, when they were great in ’85 and as recently as last year. If they move wherever it may be, I have no interest in attending a game.
Putting this team in a dome is so fucking stupid. Being outside on grass is part of the identity. Oh well, I finally have my *old man yelling at clouds* thing I guess.
Soldier Field is where the Bears belong.
It’s cold, its hard at times due to lines or whatever. But it embodies Chicago. Come Sunday we’ve got some LA people coming to town, and they’ll talk about how uncomfortable the cold is. But there’ll be 50,000 people who aren’t professional athletes there, screaming their asses off not giving one fuck about the cold.
Even beyond a competitive edge, its just so bland thinking about such a historic franchise moving in this direction.
If you want to go to a dome, go see the Bears on the road. There are plenty of them and you can go whenever you want.
Once the last outdoor stadium is gone, that’ll be it. You won’t even have the option anymore.
New stadium needs to be on the lake without a roof and anything else is unacceptable
There’s just something so Chicago about braving the cold and being at the game. It’s in the soul of our city
Never fell out of love with her, she’s perfect. I don’t care how big of a market we are and that it’s the smallest capacity in the league. We’re an OG franchise. All these other teams that don’t have the history can do as they like, the Bears should stay at Soldier just like GB should stay at Lambeau. These stadiums should remain until they’re turning to ruins. The bears need to pull their heads out of their asses and stop worrying about what concerts they can get during the offseason. Our superbowl is every sub freezing playoff game we earn. I’m just a nostalgic meatball though, I’ll never win this fight.
I’m 100% with you. The new stadium will be a dome and mostly likely not unique in any way, surrounded by a landscape that’s not unique in any way. Soldier Field has its own character and has the best skyline in the US on one side and one of the great lakes on the other. Losing all that for a boring dome so the Bears can make more money doesn’t really seem like a good deal to me.
