That’s it. Thanks for the memories, the Super Bowl win, and 19 winning seasons, Coach. It was time but he will forever be a Pittsburgh legend.

  1. Truthfully I’m excited to see if it was Mike or Rooney at fault. We are about to find out. Buckle up.

  2. I can’t wait for the tank and the same people who begged it for years will still complain after every loss (especially when it hits double digits for the first time in forever) like this isn’t what they begged for

(I’m all for tanking btw because I’m so exhausted of the most important position on the field [QB] just being an absolute joke and afterthought here)

  3. No kidding. I understood it while he was coach. There were things to be mad at.

Now? The dude stepped down when he didn’t have to and coached us through 19 competitive and meaningful years of games. He doesnt deserve the shit anymore. Let him be a Steelers legend.

  4. HE NEVER HAD A LOSING SEASON IS WHAT HE DID! IN THIS HOUSE, MICHAEL TOMLIN IS AN AMERICAN HERO! ENDUH STORY

  5. No slander eh? I’ll try.

I’m grateful for that time so very long ago he won that playoff game because Joey Porter agitated the Bengals.

  6. I’m thrilled by the news but if comes back to town for some honor I’ll be the first to cheer him

  7. I’m just left with the overwhelming feeling of “what if”

I can’t help but think the entire trajectory of our franchise would be completely different If Jesse James was awarded the touchdown and we finished the 2017 season as a number one seed. The killer b’s might go down as the most talented team in the 21st-century not to win a Super Bowl.

  8. “I just feel like if I stick to negative talking points and refuse to acknowlege anything good Mike Tomlin has ever done, it will strenghthen my position in the internet arguments I’m having.”

Is what a lot of y’all sound like haha. Have a complex thought for once.

  9. I’m on board with this even as someone who thought it was time for him to go. Overall he was a great coach and representative for the Steelers and Pittsburgh!

  10. I’ll never hate him. He won a title, 2 AFC titles, and was a model of consistency and stability as head coach.

But sometimes you need a fresh voice.

  11. I can’t wait to watch the tears in this sub when we go on to post 10 consecutive losing seasons.

  12. As of this writing there are nine – 9 – NFL coaching vacancies and Mike Tomlin is the only one not fired and the only one with a winning record this season. First ballot HoF confirmed!

  13. The Steelers only played one game, where they were eliminated from the playoffs before kickoff, during his time in Pittsburgh. Amazing stat.

  14. And Reid in Philly situation. It was just time. Change of scenery might do him some good if he decides to keep coaching.

  15. I think it is best for everyone. I know I was getting tired of investing both my time and money (tickets, jerseys, etc) watching the same thing every year. If things didn’t change in 19 years, they’re not going to change! For me, it’s never been about Tomlin as a person, I feel he is a stand up guy, it was his coaching style. He became very comfortable with the play calling and we became transparent to other teams. We also let talent walk out the door and find success with other teams. Tomlin is a defensive guy, I’m sure he’ll be fine. I do think Rooney left Tomlin step down instead of firing him. I can’t believe 9 HC’s were fired this offseason, it’s crazy! I’ll always love my Steelers, they’re the one and only team I’ll ever support!

  16. I will forever be grateful for the 19 years Coach T has been here with us. We’ve had our ups and downs, but it’s fun a fun ride.

  17. As a former Tomlin hater, I must now come out and say that the man was infallible. truly incredible as an NFL coach and I will love him til the day I die. 19 winning seasons in a freaking row is incredible, and a SB with that? what more could you possibly ask for in a HC. not everything was perfect, but he did his best, and had some great quotes along the way. Retire this mans jersey IMMEDIATELY
