[Murray] Exclusive: Mets put a $50 million-per-year offer on the table for Kyle Tucker

  1. Crazy lol. At least if we don’t get him, the Mets are a great spot for him to land with little impact to us

  2. I think this is a leverage play to get the jays to up their offer. Either way it’s still anxiety inducing. Really hope they don’t end up being bridesmaids again. Should we start tracking the jets again?

  3. Tucker is now in a tough spot…does he take the money with no real hope of winning..or leave some on the table to help lead the charge of a right-on-the-cusp contender?

  4. God damn, that’s a ton. Can’t blame him if he takes it. I’m not up on all the information, but are the Jays the only team offering long term?

  5. Well, this checks out with 3 years $150MM so slight escalation from the previous news. This is just noise to get the jays long term numbers up. If he was going to accept this offer, we would be hearing about him signing not that the Mets offered it.

  6. Mets are a dumpster fire. I still think dodgers sign him if he wants short term, high aav.

  7. Even if our free agency ended tomorrow without signing any more big name free agents, it would still be a good offseason. I want Bo but it seems like the organization values Tucker more and it’s pushing him away. Worried that we have our hands in too many cookie jars at once.

  8. Does he want to win – and make over $400m over 10 years – of does he want the highest AAV over 2-3 years?

  9. Around 50M AAV for like 3 years is insane money and there’s a reason the Mets can never put it together, I don’t think Tucker sniffs this deal at all. Hes gotta be looking for stability with everything coming his way family wise..

I truly believe this is noise from his agent telling the jays to fork over more money and the deals done.. a number like this hardly leaks unless the agent puts it out there for leverage.. Tucker obviously wants years or he’d have signed that contract already

  10. Alright time to full court press pivot to Bo. If the Mets offer that, the Dodgers will also probably offer that which feels like a slam dunk for him.

  11. Just match it. It’s a relatively short deal and its still the best player of the free agent class. Its all about next year.

  12. You know what. If we put a respectable deal for him and he just takes this for short money, i don’t blame FO. All i want them to do is to present a fair deal that will make this team better rather than do this money bidding with the mets. Just means his priorities are somewhere else. Like no sane person that wants to win a championship will look at both Mets and Jays and say “yeah, i’m going to the mets” after everything we do on and off the baseball field.

  13. Why? Mets got rid of all their good players. They aren’t even going to be competitive this year.

  14. To match that would basically 95$ mill for next year (50+45 mill in tax @90%). I’d pass. I still like him on a longer term, less crazy-town banana-pants salary.

  15. If the number is published before the signing, that means someone is leaking for leverage

  16. Why is everyone so sure that this means he’s going to sign with the Mets?? The vibes are not it. There are so many reasons why he wouldn’t take this offer too.

  17. Money is money but why would the best free agent on the market sign with he Mets in the year 2026 when there’s higher total value contacts being offered? I’m surprised they’re in on the big fish after last season. There’s a persistent problem with this org.

  18. Do we pivot to Bellinger if Mets grab Tucker? Bellinger can be insurance for Varsho, who is a free agent after 2026

  19. The Mets strategy of handing out $50 million aav contracts every year just to miss the post season and let half your team walk is interesting. I’m not sure it’s the brightest idea

  20. Tyler Rodgers

    Dylan Cease

    Cody Ponce

    Kazuma Okamoto

    Shane Beiber opt in

    No arbitration:

    Ernie Clement

    Dalton Varsho

Even if I’m missing something I think the Jays did pretty well this off season

  21. I knew it. Tucker to the Mets and Bo goes to Philly. We chase both and get neither, kind of ironic.
