I feel good about this. He’s got huge arms for a pitcher. I think he’s got natural power he doesn’t have to over throw to achieve, which could bode well for his longevity, a few previous injuries notwithstanding.
90% of these are off the plate lol
He looks too much like Leiter Jr. on the mound…
Can’t throw strikes and is always hurt. Awesome
Weathers is prone to injuries, but the Yankees traded no top prospects.
It seems like both teams are hoping to get lucky.
The Yankees hope Weathers finally will stay healthy, and the Marlins hope they eventually will get one worthwhile position player out of the pile of second-tier prospects they received.
Only six players were drafted ahead of Weathers in 2018.

ngl that sweeper is pretty nasty
Sweeper is a thing of beauty
The Fastball has nice velo but it gets bashed around a ton. Historically though the Yankees have been very good at improving the fastball of their pitchers.
Idk what kind of role they are projecting for him but I’m excited to see how he shakes out
Verdugo jump scare. Don’t scare me like that wtf.
So a changeup/sweeper guy outside of his fastball. I dig it. Just hope he stays healthy is all.
I still don’t know how to feel about this. But I feel mildly better
Injuries aside his stats are decent and he’s Yankee heritage his dad is David Weathers
He’ll be good for a while and everyone will say great trade…then he gets injured
Lot of moving parts in his delivery huh?
I did not need that Verdugo jump scare.
Great Lefty!
I think he’s a great pickup, especially for a lefty. Our rotation is stacked but we know how injuries go. I could see him as a great LH LRP for us, and can fill in some starts when needed.
I’ll always cheer for a pitcher with a behind the head windup
Is this the guy who slaps himself in the face coming out of the bullpen
Fuck it I am in love with that windup
This guy will be a difference maker LFG
Here’s my take.
We have five SP locked up for the next three years. Three have injury issues/ are older.
We have a stud SP prospect with a convenient three option years. Cruz.
So yeah, Cruz hangs out in AAA for the next three years and makes 15ish MLB starts a year.
(Plus Hampton and LaGrange on the 40 but they might be pen arms.)
I was off one afternoon during the 2024 season and watched him go toe-to-toe with Reese Olsen of the Tigers with both dealing. Off of that one game, I’m convinced he’ll be a stud with us.
