Jacksonville Free Press reporter shares impact of viral moment with Jags coach Liam Coen
After Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to the Bills in the playoffs, Lynn Jones-Turpin, with the Jacksonville Free Press, shared a message praising head coach Liam Coen during the post-game news conference, highlighting his leadership, resilience, and what this season meant beyond the final score. The moment has gone viral, but the response has been mixed between those who celebrate Jones-Turpin’s words of encouragement and those who say that’s not the role of a reporter covering the game.

Fu*k Mark Long with a 20inch pole … She Rocks!
List your accomplishments Ms. Lynn ✊🏾
The world needs a little hug every now and then. There should be more of this goodwill. She’s a good community person too, so it wouldn’t be surprising if she gets kids into writing and sports because of the positive interaction.
She objectively told him he did a good job
Too many members of the sports media grow cynical in their coverage of teams and players and it shows in their reporting. They aren’t really sports fans and often don’t even like the people they report on. Their approach to a post game press conference is always to ask, why didn’t you win, why couldn’t you get the players to play better, why did you call that failed play, etc. They aren’t capable of recognizing that the team had a better season than anyone expected and that too should be noted.
She is Jacksonville! What an amazing woman. Raise her up encourage reporters to do better. Jamele Hill is a Bozo for her take also.
Im not a Jags fan but what she said was pure class and she should be commended. We need more of this in this very negative world.

There's some people in this country no matter what black people do or say would find something negative about it. It's really more of a reflection of them

No matter what we do or how we choose to do it, if we do it our way their going to try to discredit it or tear it down, remember black Wall Street 😉👍🏾✌🏾
This was something I needed to see and I didn't have a thing to do with it! More humanity please ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Go ahead with your bad self !

The kind of reporting that we need more of. She gets it.

She’s awesome! Yay! 🎉
We need more people like this lady. Loved this.
I guess these "Journalist" don't understand the profession doesn't always have to be about antagonistic reporting and negativity. They can't understand why someone would "waste" 30 seconds of a press briefing with a few words of encouragement, when you can bombard just the guy with critiques of mistakes that seem obvious in hindsight. Thank you Lynn Jones, for that much needed moment of grace and humanity. God Bless!🙏🏿
