  1. I think it has to be 4-5 years at 48-50 million a year for it to happen. With opt outs after year 1 and year 3 and 4. Don’t see why Tucker would sign a short term deal over a 8-10 year deal (assuming ones out there). Giving up the next 3 years will hurt his later year earnings.

  2. 30 million too much for Alonso but Tucker is worth 50 million???

He ain’t a gold glove. His numbers are about even with Alonso overall at best with more contact but less power.

    I don’t get it.

  3. They didn't lose Alonso, Nimmo & McNeal; they didn't want them because they needed to break up the core & I'm glad they did….I want to win!!

  4. Stearns is the mastermind that got us Sean Manaea at 25 mill for 3 years and Frankie Montas as a bonus and then let Diaz annd Pete walk! Stearns is clueless and so is Cohen trusting him to make the right decisions.

  5. Mets making a knee-jerk reaction here?? Why are they offering Tucker $50M AAV when they could have gotten both hometown, beloved Alonso and clubhouse leader Schwarber for $61M AAV? That is 94 home runs they gave up!!

  6. TUCKER is way more injury prone than ALONSO. He has neverhit 35 plus hrs, never has driven in 100 or more rbis, They're going to overpay. and hope he doesn't become another JASON BAY.

  7. Mets only offered 50 million because someone offered 60 million. They don't want to spend a dime, but also wants to make it look like their " all in".

  8. To all the baseball experts who are denigrating Alonso.
Baltimore felt Alonso was worth it and where exactly did you buy the crystal ball that predicts at what age Alonso will not be productive?

  9. Even nimmo had better.n numbers than tucker last year.50 millon really ? Its an absolute overreach probably in desperation we shall see sounds like cohen and sterns are attempting to save face

  10. They won't get him with a short term deal. He would like security at like 8 years for 400 million. Too many variables for him to miss out on money. He'll decline it. They need to throw in some sort of opt in for like another 3 years at 50 million after the first 3 years.

  11. Stearns doesn't like giving long contracts to position players? Then what do you call his ABSOLUTE refusal to sign pitchers to long term deals? Relatively speaking, they're MUCH more willing to sign position players than pitchers.
