Astros: If Christian Walker can be traded, Nolan Arenado trade could be a framework

Houston Astros face a pivotal offseason, staring down a roster logjam and tough trade decisions that could reshape their infield. With Christian Walker’s hefty contract hindering trade options, Eric Huysman and Ryan examine whether a Nolan Arenado-style framework could help Houston clear salary and reset their path. Is Isak Paredes too valuable to move, or does his two years of control make him the key bargaining chip? The conversation heats up over potential Red Sox trade scenarios and what they mean for the Astros’ future.

  1. The Astros can get creative. We're a better team with both Walker and Paredes in our lineup. I do honestly believe we can find the abs for these guys especially if Yordan plays LF.

  2. If we get Yordan to play 80 games in LF which is only about 25 more games than hes played in LF during his best years so far then between Cole and Altuve they can split the remaining putting them around 40 games each. Thats not a big stretch. Altuve played 47 there last year and his fielding % was .984 just a touch above his 2nd base %

This opens up the IF for Parades to play 2nd or 3rd when Correa needs a breather. He can split time at DH with Altuve and Yordan with Yordan gettting the lyons share at 80 games.
This is is assuming a HUGE factor of these guys playing 160 games each which wont happen right?

Regardless im still thinking we are just fine where we are. If we sustain an injury in the IF then we have huge upside replacing that injury. This outways paying a team to send away Walker IMO.

    Thoughts?

  3. Sanchez and his 6.8M along with one of Walker or Paredes won’t be on the opening day roster… thank goodness.

These players and their agents won’t allow a platoon scenario with these vets which would cost each baller significant present and future monies (especially Paredes).
