  6. The only way the Red Sox trade for Peralta is if they sign him to a new contract first. I don't see them losing two of their top prospects for one season.

  8. Red Sox are super cheap. If player A makes more money than player B they will badly want to keep player B. The years left before free agency are extremely important to them too.

  9. If these deals went through Campbell could be their 4th OF and fill in at 2b for Mayer until he gets hurt again. Even if Mayer doesn't get hurt again he has to play a lot better than he did last year to stay in the starting lineup. Mayer also didn't sign a long term deal. That means he either passed or one wasn't offered. Neither scenario screams he'll be a long term starter for them.
