MSL on the 5 on 3 Habs PP tonight: “I hoped to see a goal. We have good players out there. They did what they could. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t put the puck in the net. Usually on 5 on 3, it’s rare that it if you don’t score, that you’re gonna win the game. We just didn’t score.”

  2. brother you took demi and lane off PP1. put texier on pp1 for the 5on3… this loss was on you

  3. Not only we didn’t score, but I think we only had one shot. One quality shot, though: right in the middle of the goalie’s crest.

  4. Yeah maybe a 5on3 isn’t the time to experiment. When 2 of your top 5 point producing players aren’t on the ice, there are questions to be asked.

  5. Look I won’t say MSL is a genius here, he is classic Marty where he doesn’t have a solution to the problem. 2/22 PP.

But enough acting like Lane is the magic bullet, he wasn’t doing anyting on the other 22 PPs that stunk. Its a 5 on 3 and Cole/Nick/Slaf/Dobson are pretty damn good hockey players that should be able to make something happen with a 2 man advantage. Does Cole and Nick need Lane to spoon feed them pucks to score goals with 2 less players on the ice.

The PP has stunk for a while and its not because of Lane Hutson wasnt on the top unit the previous 22 PPs. Its not working out. Marty needs to figure it out somehow cuz he is the coach but its no joke and a lame PP firing at 10% probably means losses in close games instead of wins.

I don’t think play Hutson is the solution because everyone else isn’t doing anything either and Hutson can’t outplay the other 10 guys on the ice by himself. So ya Tex and Dobson isn’t probably the solution classic MSL throwing things at the wall hoping for a miracle. But Hutson isn’t going to be a magic bullet there is something rotten at the core of the PP for the last few weeks and maybe the coaches and players need to sit and watch some video and figure it out.

  6. Like he’s partly at fault for trying random lines for the PP.

When the PP had Hutson and Demidov, it almost always scored at some point. Not a coincidence. The PP had been mostly luck lately and idk when he’s gonna just lock the PP line and just roll with it.

  7. For a guy who spoke last night about not over-coaching players, he sure as hell over-coached the 5v3

  8. I don’t know why people are freeking out?

    The 5 on 3 was Suzuki-Caufield-Slafkovsky-Demidov-Dobson.

MSL has put Dobson instead of Hutson on the 5on3 since the start of the season because he’s more of a shot threat.

I think it’s just not something that they’ve had the opportunity to practice a lot, which is why it wasn’t great.

  9. Yea maybe it’s because we are taking FUCKING POINT SHOTS on a 5 on 3. We don’t even do that on a regular powerplay, why the fuck would we do it 5 on 3. Remember the 4 on 3 in OT versus Florida. As soon as Hutson was put back onto it, he made magic happen. The problem with the PP is not who’s on it, it’s that they are being way too overcoached. They don’t cycle, everyone is looking for set plays and it’s fucking stupid. We are so skilled, we just need to go out there and pass the puck around and look for opportunities, it’s not that hard.

  10. Going out and getting a point after getting in to town at 3AM after last night’s game is a good result!

  11. Just because Dobson scored yesterday on the power-play does not mean that it would work for this game especially on a 5 on 3 where you can have two of your best puck moving players setting up great plays out there.

  12. Habs need someone new running the PP. Marty is just as bad as Burrows was. All they do is pass & pass.

  13. Bro! Baby, I love you, but you 5v3 worked maybe twice in the last 3 years.

You need a better game plan, or don’t put 2 guys behind the net.

  14. The least he could do is call a timeout and write “I hope to see a goal” on that little rink whiteboard that they use
