Another reevaluation in March? not really expecting him to play again this season.
I didn’t want good news anyway
RE EVALUATION IM ACTUALLY DONE
Zach “the Tank” Edey
FUCK MY LIFE DUDE
Damn you’re fast lol
This feels like we’re committed to shutting Edey down for the season. Most likely will use him sparingly after the All star break.
Good to see Ty Jerome back though.
We’re cooked. No wonder the front office wants to blow the team up.
Yeahh even if we aren’t tanking, we’re still tanking
I just want to die.
Season’s cooked, let’s just give GG the greenest light in the league and see what he does on 40 shots a night just for the hell of it
fuck
FUCK!!!!!!!!!!
The only thing that’ll salvage yet another nightmare season would be lucking into a top-3 pick in this lotto. Crazy loaded class.
Man why bother watching this season? If it wasn’t for Ced, I would have been checked out.
Who could ever have predicted a 7’4″ man would be an injury risk
Tank time.
Time to move Jerome and Londale as well for a little draft value and more losses. The season in over for Memphis.
I wonder if Jerome will ever play if we’re this committed to the tank
I operate off of the assumption that every injury on this team is a career ender. I am pleasantly surprised if anyone ever gets hurt and comes back in the same season, or ever plays for the team again. It made the Steven Adams debacle easier. Marcus smarts finger. Etc
The light has gone out of my life.
Steven Adams 2.0. We’ve been here before.
Fuckin hell 😂
Cut my life into pieces
GET THIS MAN SOME BAGS OF MILK
I really hope for the best, but I am ALL IN on this years draft. We can legitimately blow it up and show up next season with a really good looking core for the future. Fast tracking is never smart, but with Edey, Spencer, Wells, and Coward on board, I mean…
Lmao, of course. I’ll still be here watching guys but it feels like I’m tanking for the promise of next fantasy football season again
Damn.
I’m worried this is injury is going to persist for his entire career.
I’ll chalk this up to tanking the rest of the season post-Ja trade but I’m also officially concerned about his health going forward
Team is dead, these medical updates are very uninspiring

We have committed to a direction. Look forward to seeing our young guys growth and development this year. Next year we will be a force.
Wow, hard to see any positives in the Edey update. It sounds like this is a very serious situation.
I’m not a doctor, but…
I don’t think fans should be too bummed out by this news. I think this is the reality of these types of surgeries.
I read from a few sources that the surgery they did on Edey’s ankle—to essentially strip it down to studs and build it back up—would heal in a kind of two step process.
The first level of healing is the fact that it works as an ankle under normal circumstances. The bone heals, the ligaments and tendons are functional. He can put weight on it and move around on it.
That level takes a few months, and Edey has been there. Even when he felt discomfort in his ankle, he still moved on it during NBA games and played very well.
But the second level of healing is the “remodeling” of the ankle. While ligaments and tendons function during the first level of healing, they take longer to become fully acclimated to the demands of walking, running, jumping, etc. They need to remember how to adjust to the bones and muscles around them and strengthen around those bones and muscles.
The second level takes up to a year. For someone like Zach who is both a literal giant and an athlete playing one of the most lower extremity dependent sports in the world, it makes sense that his ankle would need more than a few months to fully bounce back.
The more I read about his injury and surgery, the more surprised I was that they brought him back this season at all. I had a few comments on this sub that essentially said that it didn’t make sense to expect him back so soon.
Why did he come back before his ankle could remodel? I bet he and his camp were itching to get him back out there (remember he’s never had a major injury before), and our training staff know the mutiny that would have ensued if they shut him down for the season before it started. There’s also the practical reality that, despite what ZK said about Ja in the offseason, they knew that trading him was a possibility and wanted to see him and Edey together before leaning in that direction.
My intuition on the situation now:
1. The team isn’t super worried long term about Edey. In fact, he’s probably more critical now to their future plans than any other player on the roster. They’re not doing this because he’s brittle; they’re doing it because he’s important. But, in a season that looks more and more lost by the day, they’re not going to risk anything.
2. The team knew that Edey was either done for 2025-26 or close to it when they leaked the Ja trade thing to Shams. They have a few bidders and they’re trying to leverage them against each other. They have an internal sense on what it would take to move him. If they don’t get that by the deadline, he’ll stay. If they do, he’s gone, and they’ll pivot to building around Edey and Coward.
3. Other people are saying this too, but this has evolved into a punt season for the Grizzlies. They’re going to try to get to the bottom 6 or 7 in the league and hope that they get some lottery luck and/or that the Suns come back down to earth. In this draft, you probably can’t trade into the top 3 under any circumstances, but the consensus #4 right now (Caleb Wilson) would be an awfully good consolation prize, and you might be able to go get him with or without lottery luck, especially if you get some draft compensation for Ja.
4. I don’t have a great read on the JJJ situation. Edey masks a lot of his weaknesses and JJJ’s skillset doesn’t grow on trees. Is he the third best player on a championship team? I don’t know, but I bet the front office believes that. A core of [2026 top 5ish pick], Coward, JJJ, and Edey would be a really nice foundation. If they don’t get their offer for Ja, then you can add him to that group as well, but he won’t have run of the place anymore, and he may not be enamored with that.
All of that could be wrong. Just my read on it.
Note to self: never, ever, EVER use OrthoSouth for any physical rehabilitation needs.
Just full on tank at this point JFC
Well that sucks

~~1~~ 0 Days of no good news.
It feels like it’s been an eternity since we’ve had a proper season

“OrthoSouth…Where excellence is forever 4-6 weeks away.”
I didn’t realize that SPJ was having bones removed. I thought it was a ligamentous surgery to improve stability. I’m not an expert on the procedure at all, so I went to PubMed for some research. Apparently, 80% of athletes with this surgery return to sport without complications in 4.6 months, give or take 1 month. It’s been 3 months (feels like longer), so he’s not really off track to return as expected
With Edey out for this long we probably can’t even make the play in.
When is this? Going to the game on the 25th vs Denver, they’re expected to not have Jokic.
yeah we’re TANKING
So we hitting Cancun early this year?? Should I check ba back into the sub around draft time? 😂…😭
We are 10-18 without Edey, and 7-4 with him, might as well start the tank.

Shut it all down, no reason to try with all that news
THERE’S THAT WORD AGAIN
Just burn it all down and start over. Start at the very fucking top. We’re a joke of a franchise and an embarrassment to the league
