I was actually a bit concerned they would just be lazy and Promote Teryl Austin or some shit.
Not saying we’ll nail the hire but this is at least some promising news

People that thought AR2 would be “lazy” and promote within are insane. Not that he’s some paragon owner, but he would never buck the tradition of Steelers Head Coaches so hard like that. Defensive coordinator in their mid 30s are the only real candidates they’re gonna be looking at

If history is an indicator, they will be looking for someone fairly young who has never been an NFL head coach.

A jab at Smith. But also, the whole “tomlin left” thing was not fully that Tomlin left on his terms. I am pretty sure he was going to be fired, and the FO is saying nice things now because Tomlin did the gracious thing and let them get away without having to fire him. All that said, I don’t think there’s any faith in the current coaching staff and they will be giving the new coach free reign to choose their new staff.

Saleh. Tips many historical Steelers boxes. Excellent, tested defensive coach. Is young and if successful could be there a long time. A minority, a longtime Steelers family priority. Bring in Mike McDaniel as OC, a man who guided successful 49ers offenses under Kyle Shanahan. Might be able to peel away Mac Jones from S.F., and Saleh can say goodbye and good riddance to Aaron for the Jets soap opera.
