  1. I am a self professed Arenado fanboy. He has been among my favorite players since his time with Rockies. I was extatic when we made the trade for him! His highlight reels live rent free in my head, and I was blessed to see several fantastic moments live!

All that said, I would consider his time with the Cardinals a massive, MASSIVE disappointment. Not just because of the decline in production from number 28, but also because of the mess that Mo and the DeWitts created because of the trade. It gave us hope that we were going to fix the rotation and compete (something I had been begging the FO to do since 2019). It gave us hope that we would continue to compete for years to come. Arenado and Goldschmidt were having MVP years in 2022, and when Pujols's farewell tour began to take off in July, I thought, "SURELY Mo HAS to take advantage of this! He CANNOT let this opportunity slip through his fingers…" And we all know how that went…

But beyond 2022, we all saw both Goldschmidt and Arenado decline. We saw MULTIPLE prospects fail to gain traction, if not outright bust (several of which continue to struggle to this day). We delayed the rebuild for too many years. We held onto prospects for longer then we should have. We didn't sign free agents when we should have. We blocked prospects growth and forced some to switch positions altogether (Gorman from 3B to 2B and Walker from 3B to RF, in particular). All of this, and ZERO postseason wins during Arenado's years with us…

Is this all on the team? No. Arenado's performance for half of his time year was not what we had hoped. But the team sure failed to launch, even when given every opportunity to do so, and the FO refused to inject any life into the lineup or rotation. I think it's hard to say that the last five years were anything but a disappointment.

I hope Arenado resurges as a player in Arizona, and I pray that Bloom can course correct this organization.

  2. I hated losing Arenado. But I understand it. But I don't understand why they would want to get rid of Donovan. He's still a young man and he's an amazing player. If you're rebuilding, why trade away your best player?

  3. I think Nado was trying to hide a back injury the last few years and just play through it and ya his time was disappointing here when you’re paid 30mil/ year and put up his numbers the last 2 years(roughly half his time here) it’s a failure regardless of the circumstances. Poor FEDDE JD is still kicking him around. Lol

  4. I think having two Gold Glove hard hitters at the corners of your infield should have netted Saint Louis another ring. "Promising" hitters…Walker, Gorman, Scott II, and Nootbar…did not live up to the promise. Getting 'Nado and Goldy was the best thing the Cardinals have done in the last 10 years, and they were wasted.

  5. He had a strong season, a great season, a solid season, an average season (though below expectations) and one miserable season. Had the pitching been better those first two years….they could have made a run. I am still glad the Cards traded for him but I am also glad they have now moved on from him and wish Nado the very best in AZ and gets to the post season.

  6. 'Nado's time in St. Louis was a disappointment, but like JD said, it was NOT because if him or Goldy, it was because of the FO allowing the farm to stagnate, rot and decay. 'Nado probably should have looked at the Cards farm before agreeing to come here, he could have seen this coming and went to a team that actually would be contenders in the near future. 'Nado and Goldy both were outstanding, the Cardinals just failed them.
Honestly I hope to see a reunion of 'Nado and Goldy out in the desert. The DBacks need an upgrade at 1B and Goldy IS available. I don't imagine he'd cost that much, either.

  7. Goldy and nado were not true power hitters both were power hitters that never sniffed a World Series. So that the wrong moved sorry but not sorry terrible defines yo have both who haven’t had much playoff experience in there career

  8. Arenado did all he could. If failure it comes from organization. In 2011, they went and got several pieces in one trade. Then they caught lightning in a bottle. That has been the organizations philosophy, do only enough to get just in and try for lightning in a bottle again

  9. Explain to me in simple terms, "How eating 51 million dollars on three players makes sense." STL received five pitchers, maybe one starter, on a reset. And now STL has to find a right handed outfield bat. You and Bernie make no sense.
