Greetings, friends! I haven't forgotten about my promise to do an AMA, which is officially scheduled for Tuesday (Jan. 20) at 11 a.m. ET. I hope many of you will join!

In the meantime, given the sinking state of the Rangers, I've been diving into a lot of the potential fallout and wanted to share some links. My latest insider column addressed the likelihood of the team trying for a relatively quick retool vs. a full-scale rebuild, plus what I'm hearing about Artemi Panarin and his NMC. Earlier this week, I sat down 1v1 with Alexis Lafrenière to talk about his disappointing season and broke the NYR roster into trade tiers with colleague Peter Baugh.

Enjoy — and I'll talk to you all on Tuesday morning!

  1. Great writeup on the trade tiers- surprised I hadn’t seen it in here until just now.

Because of his contract and importance in the locker room, I don’t think you necessarily *need* to trade Trocheck, but an on-the-fly rebuild/retool would work much better if they would. As much as I’d hate to see him go, that Brock Nelson-type return would be a huge help in restocking the pipeline. A contender would pay a pretty penny for a guy who can either be good 2C or one of the best 3C’s in the league.

    Looking forward to the AMA
