Proof that I only spin once. This right here is the kaka stinkiest draft result possible.

  1. Truth be told, we’ll probably be picking 5-10 when you look at the other teams, how much easier it is for them to sit their few capable players, how likely they are to dump capable players via trade, and the overall odds if the Pacers drop to 6-8, which I think is likely over the next 41 games

  2. Aside from Jarace developing very slowly (if at all), I like where our wings & forwards are. But that’s also where a lot of the top end talent is in the draft.

Unless we secure a top-3 pick to get Dybantsa or Boozer, I don’t think it’s disrupting our forward corps of Siakam, Nesmith, Toppin, and whoever develops first between Furphy & Jarace.

There is a lot of PG talent in the draft. Assuming we figure out a long term solution at center via the trade market, a back-up PG is probably what we could/should upgrade if we get a lower pick*

A two-way PG who can reliably come off the bench to run the offense AND defend at a high level would be a huge stabilizing force for the team. Even at our best last season, our 2nd unit gave up a lot of ground on both ends of the court. Too many blown leads to be comfortable with, and the most straightforward way to address this would be to draft a big 2-way 1 guard.

*TJM is obviously a fan favorite and he has his great stretches – especially as a change of pace guy – but he also goes through deeply negative stretches wherein every early shot-clock miss is practically a turnover while he gets hunted to hell defensively.

For a number of reasons, Nembhard belongs in the 1st unit with Tyrese.
