Head Coach Mike Macdonald Previews The Divisional Round Matchup vs. 49ers

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald discusses the preparation for their upcoming playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers. He emphasizes maintaining their regular process and viewing it as “Week 19” rather than overemphasizing the playoff atmosphere (0:13). Macdonald highlights the team’s improved third-down conversion rate (1:11) and the development of complementary football across all phases (1:51). He praises the team’s effort in pursuing the ball, attributing it to the players’ connectedness and buy-in to the process (3:34). Macdonald also discusses the versatility of their defensive personnel, particularly praising Devon Witherspoon’s growth as an outside cornerback (14:43). The coach stresses the importance of creating a positive work environment that balances seriousness with enjoyment (16:47). He mentions managing Charles Cross and Coby Bryant as they return to practice (7:49).

  1. No if ands or buts we giving belt and it’s a forsure whoopin if you are skeptical your not a a true 12th man we have close games with them but we give them belt as well history shows and we up on the record against them many time we swept the niners up don’t don’t my HAWKS LETS GO WIN IT ALL!!!

  2. I sincerely appreciate the improvement in the audio for the press conference. It used to be nearly impossible to hear the questions and now, whatever you did worked. We're able to hear all the questions which makes for a more informed fan base. Go Hawks!

  3. The Hawks improved over the course of a season and are playing their best ball going into the playoffs. As a coach you can't really dial it up any better than that.

Seahawks are going to be extremely competitive for several years

  4. Mike McDonald thanks for tackling the assignment you have stepped up to do amazing coaching i feel that the sky is the limit for you coach much love coack mike….. go seahawks!!!

  5. I understand that Mike comes from a military family. Correct me if I’m wrong please. That being said I have seen the look on his face when his team misses on execution. Could be a drill Sargent on the practice field. But young men need that. Hanging your ego at the door seems to be a theme as well.

  6. As a Niner's fan, I completely understand that the Seahawks have 100% advantage over the Niner's and everyone knows it. Niner's have unreal injuries, no rest advantage (Niners have short week rest), plus home field advantage. I have also heard Seahawk players claiming they have the best defense in all of football this season with proof we have all seen this season. There is absolutely no reason for the Seahawks to lose this game with literally every advantage going into this game. May the best team win.

  7. I love how he gives kudos to being able to play in front of a home crowd, but acknowledging that for the team, as of now it is trivial because being prepared for the game is the number 1 goal. Mike is the real deal

  8. I know it’s early, but Mike really sounds like a Hall of Fame coach. It honestly feels like we’re watching greatness in real time. The way he speaks—simple, smart, and meaningful—is rare. His temperament always fits the moment. Gotta give the man some props.
