  1. The Mets need Kyle Tucker. They do not have any protection for Juan Soto. Tucker's defense is average, but Todd Ziele is right, he is a better defender than Juan Soto. Tucker is a power threat, and would be a great piece of the lineup to protect Juan Soto. It would be nice if he was right handed, but he is still a perfect fit for the Mets. Overpaying for Tucker is not surprising now, due to what the Mets have put themselves in.

  2. As a cub fan, I would rather have Belanger over Tucker mean for real for real when Tucker was good he was great but he was missing for half the season he was no-show, so yeah, good luck New York. God bless you.

  3. Would he make the Mets a better team? Yes. But he's not worth the money. I don't care about OPS+ for a guy who gets hurt every year. He has only two 100 RBI seasons and has never scored 100 runs. Why didn't they just keep Alonso, who plays every day and is a bona fide run producer, and would have been way cheaper? Part of being a great player is staying healthy.

  4. They have to overpay to compete with a longer offer. They're overpaying him and if he believes in his own game he'd jump at the offer. The only way he doesn't maximize his earning potential is if he FLOPS as a Met working for that kind of money. I think he either accepts the offer by Friday….latest ..or he will sign in Toronto. If he doesn't decide to join the Mets by then I would rationalize that he simply wants length and stability rather than maximizing his potential earnings.

  5. I am shocked that Kyle did not sign on the dotted line asap. It honestly makes me wonder if he wants to play in New York. I absolutely did not forget like some, he was not the same player after coming back from his injury from my team the Cubs, most fans could tell that.

  6. Extremely skeptical he signs with the Mets. He’s not worth 50 million a year. Mets will loose out and sign Framber Valdez & trade for Lars Nootbaar.

  7. Doing Alonso dirty by overpaying Tuck. Pete was a true met. He bled for them too, only to be tossed aside. 50 mill, shouldve paid for a loyal player, not fan redemption panic button.

  8. Not to knock Pete Alonzo and certainly not to bash Diaz, but I am glad that our club is starting to think in terms of building a team rather than assembling talent, because often building a cohesive team involves refining the product by pruning and nurturing talent based on needs and direction rather than things like popularity and or misleading statistics.
Hopefully, our culture will improve and become a keystone for us to elaborate on in the following years.
