[Swydan] Big men the Celtics should consider instead of Zubac or JJJ

Nikola Vučević. Can shoot the three / space, plus what we need out of a center
Ready for the downvotes, but . . . Zion Williamson.
I’ve been saying Day’Ron Sharpe. It makes so much sense
I dunno if Williams is gettable but I’ve been high on Sharpe (likely expensive the trade but maybe worth it) and thought Bagley was a sleeper pickup for maybe cheap.
Thanks, that was a fun read
I don’t care about injuries, bring rob back.
Sharpe is the best option he is solid on both ends and won’t cost as much as Zubac + adds good center depth. Also very young still so he can develop even more
The money question on JJJ is one I don’t get. Robb tried to make it seem like having $195M to four players was untenable because you’d “only” have $30M” in cap to work with. You have to get very cheap on the back end of the roster, but they have enough affordable pieces to make that happen and the cap will likely continue to go up. I’d rather have a solid top-4 locked up with a top-3 all under 30 than try to mish mash our way through with 4-5 players who are overpaid in the $12-25 range.
If we didn’t have Garza and he was out there performing like this for another team, he’d be at the top of the list.
I’d be open to Daniel Gafford for a low price
Call up Tako! I feel like he never got a fair shake
It’s a well done article, but I feel as though the criteria being almost entirely offensively focused taints the result. We need defense from our big men!!
I hate the fit less, but the contract?
No thanks
The guy can’t get 10 rebounds a game and won DPOY? As a center?
GTFO
Don’t let the door hit you in the ass
Zach Edey please!!

Would love to get sharpe, bagley is sort of intriguing though and i would assume he would have the lowest cost. I’m really just into the dumpster diving approach right now idk, especially with the current CBA. Sharpe, bagley, and missi would be nice pickups. Zubac would be great but not if it’s going to cost us multiple 1sts and a young wing, it’s gotta be one or the other. And then JJJ’s contract is just too much to deal with.
But i’ll also add that it’s jan 14th, we’ve got 11 games until the trade deadline, and all the two ways aren’t playing in the maine game today for the first time in months.
Feels like it might be time to get amari, rhj, and shulga some minutes, maybe they want to see what they have there before they go all in on a move. Like if amari looks good maybe you feel better about a cheaper big rather than zubac, if rhj looks good maybe you entertain offering hauser for something (although i think he’s more of a replacement for baylor), etc. Just would be kind of odd to have them not play in maine and also not get any minutes on the real team, and the timing is interesting
We’re going to float JJJ and Zubac all season but at the deadline we’ll make a midnight blockbuster for… checks notes…. Daniel Theis
