[Spiegel] Looks like some changes for Flyers so bear with me (& in no order). Looks like Barkey is out

  1. Drysdale back before Brink is shocking, considering Brink left the ice on his own two feet against Anaheim. Glad to see Jamie back, hope Bobby’s back tomorrow

  2. Give me/
    Michkov-Coots-Barkey
    Z-Dvorak-TK
    Greb-Cates-Tippett
    Grundström-Abols-Hathaway

I do think both Barkey and Grebenkin are too good to be getting 4th line minutes so when Bobby comes back maybe it’s time to send Barkey back down. But this infatuation of putting Michkov with unskilled grinders for lack of a better word is getting borderline criminal.

  3. I know Brink is out but those forward lines are ugly, especially with Barkey sitting.

  4. I wouldn’t worry about it Tocchet’s just trying to mix it up and make something happen because the offense has been snakebit.

Barley has been great, but his battery was going to run down eventually at this pace. I’m sure it’s just management and he’ll be back in soon looking like he did in his first few games.

  5. I’m going to be optimistic and assume they are giving Barkey an off night to limit his workload. He is a rookie and this month has a ton of games in a short period of time. Still hate who Michkov is playing with though. Interested to see the PP units

  6. michkov coots grundy sounds absolutely insane. i don’t tend to criticize tocchet, mostly because i’m not a hockey expert and also i want to give him at least a season before i start making judgments…but this is so fucking bizarre to me.

  7. Mich being chained to Coots hurts my soul. Also bummed Barkey is out. Imo earned his spot in the line up

  8. Sorry, Denver. Your hustle makes the other guys feel a little uncomfortable and we’re trying to build a culture here.

    /Coach T.

  9. Cue people losing it for scratching a struggling rookie who has 1 pt in last 10 games …

Barkey wasnt exactly dominating the AHL either. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets sent down to develop a little more.

  10. I think Michkov has played RW one time this season? From the line rushes I can remember.

Yet Grundstrom naturally plays left and that’s where his burst of goals came from.

Like, can we just do the obvious thing one fucking time for once? Why is this so difficult. Just exhaust the obvious things first and if they don’t work try the other shit. This forcing Mich onto the left wing the whole year is just another annoying thing on top of the rest of the shit. Tippett and Foerster both showed they can happily produce on the left and now that Brink is out we’re not replacing his RW spot with Mich who naturally plays RW but rather forcing Grundstrom to ALSO play their off wing.
