I’ve seen a lot of discussion on Baker on whether or not he’s a franchise quarterback. Many are saying he’s just a bridge quarterback or that the Bucs should move on, but I’m just curious on how the people of Reddit feel on this take?

  1. To start I’m a huge Baker fan and have been since he was in Cleveland so MAYBE I’m biased. But I would be very shocked and disappointed if we moved on from him anytime soon, I am absolutely not one of the people calling for him to be traded or whatever

  4. Honestly, he’s a franchise quarterback and better than half the starters in the league. If you on from him, then who do you get that would be better?

    I don’t think we’ll tank to get a good draft pick. So that means any college QB who could replace baker will be instantly snatched up by other teams. With that said, we should still draft a qb in 2026 and have him learn under baker.

    Too often are rookie QB’s thrown into the fire the moment they get drafted. They dont get time to develop with alot of them becoming busts. And so after 2026, sign a 2 or 3 year contract, draft a qb and have them work under Baker.

  7. When healthy and with even average playcalling he’s a potential MVP and franchise QB. You don’t move on from a QB like that unless you’re braindead.

  10. There’s like 2 guys in the league who are going to be good regardless of coaching. You just don’t find them. Hes not one of them. And that is not a knock. He can be a top 5 guy with the correct coaching. It would be idiotic to move on from him. Get an even half competent guy at OC and there is 0 concern.

  11. i like him, but i think we need a somewhat competent backup in case baker gets injured and then someone on the coaching staff needs to get the balls to tell baker to sit a game or 2 out and tend to his injures he sometimes plays horribly while injured.

  12. He can be a top 10 QB when healthy, unless something crazy happens I don’t see a reason to move on.

  13. Somewhere in the range of 8-12th best quarterback in the league. Not Allen or Mahomes or Jackson for a full season, but as good as any of them a few times per year. That said, I don’t think he can get any better than we’ve already seen.

    I’m not suggesting anything drastic but it may be worth drafting a project qb this year. Someone who could start if Baker is injured for a week or two.

    I think Baker can win the NFC. I don’t think Bowles can, though.

  14. I love him and absolutely want him to stay our QB. But I do worry a little bit about how he will age as a QB. His evasiveness is what makes for the most special plays we see from him and I wonder if he will become a more average player as his athleticism slips with age. I think that is one of the things that made Russell Wilson fall off a cliff. But I love him and if we get a great OC and some injury luck he can win us a Super Bowl!

  15. My opinion on him is really driven by about how much we pay him..he is a quality starter that needs an above average rushing attack to be consistently effective.

  22. He has moxie and talent. Will he be a goat? No, but is a great asset for the team and the community. Todd Bowles should be gone, but not Baker.

  23. He’s our guy for a while. I think he could win a Super Bowl with a team around him like Hurts had, but probably can’t be the main driver. But you can win with him. He’s better than Hurts is and the Eagles just cruised to one.

  24. Probably won’t happen but I would love to see baker with Mike Mcdaniels play calling ability, bucs have the offensive power to make noise

  25. I feel like he was playing beat up all year with a shit playcaller / scheme, 3rd string guards and 3rd string wrs. Anyone doubting if he’s our guy needs to revisit tape from last year and two years ago.

  27. 4 of the wins during the 6-2 run came in the final 60 seconds thanks to Baker either making an absurd sack escape and scramble or completing a huge pass.

    We’re a 2-15 team without him this year, and anyone who thinks we should replace him doesn’t know football.

  28. Get him a line that protects him and an OC that creates real passing lanes and he’s one of the best in the league. He wills the team to be competitive. Get a guy with less grit than he’s shown this season, we lose half the games we won this year. He single handedly kept our dead ass coach from being fired (which is really the only downside to him imo… if we just had a worse qb, we’d have a new coach right now lol)

  33. The last few games he was looking like not a great qb I dunno. Reads and decisions weren’t as good as normal

  35. Baker was never the issue and is probably our best or second best player. Getting rid of him at any point would be horrendous

  36. Baker is our QB. That said, we should draft one this year. Bridgewater is not a long term backup and we need to invest in that position.
