  1. He’s 100% absolutely right. A max? I dunno about all that, but the fact is, getting Peterson is looking like a coin flip right now. The other 3, how can they develop if there is no one to get them the ball? Tre’s entire game is someone getting him the ball in his spots. Its not about trae young, its about all the other young guys and their development.

  2. The extension isn’t the question. The question is what $ amount you extend him at. You give Trae $60 mil a year or something and you’ll regret it by the end of the contract. $30 mil or something, then of course.

  3. There’s no reason to extend him until:

    1) We see how well he meshes with the kids.
    2) We see that he can elevate the team to the play-in.

  4. Overpaying a guy because “it sends a message to the league about how much we value players in DC” is nonsense. That’s how we ended up with Beal on a NTC and 5 years of Davis Bertans, who immediately became unplayable.

  5. Depends on the price and or years. I actually think a FVV like contract would be good. A large amount of money but make it 2+1 with team option, we have no one really to pay until Sarr.
