I know that international prospects signings aren't celebration worthy most of the time but as a Brazilian myself, it made my day.
The Red Sox signed Claudio Pereira, a 17 years old, 6'5" pitcher from Marilia. His fastball touches 90mph+ already and he also throws a very good changeup and an ok curveball. Besides being the best Brazilian prospect of 2026, he's a Top 100 international prospect.
If you're thinking to yourself right now "Holy shit, brazilians are playing baseball??????", yes we are. Baseball is huge in the japanese community here, almost every team in the nation is owned and managed by descendants of Japanese (Claudio himself isn't japanese but played for Nikkey Marilia, a japanese managed team). If Claudio reaches the majors, he will be the 6th Brazilian player in the MLB. All of them played in the last 20 years.
Also, the Red Sox have the most fans in Brazil for any baseball team and it's not even close, we have like double the size of the second one. If all goes well for Claudio on the next years, maybe he can make this difference even bigger ❤️🇧🇷

[Here’s](https://x.com/i/status/2009291158023737755) a video of our guy pitching.
Love it
6’ 5” pitcher? Breslow always gets his man
Who’s that cool dude next to Bres?😎
Can someone from Fall River tell us how to say “beanpole” in Portuguese?
As far as I know, other than that kid from Taiwan who signed around 2020, I don’t think the Sox have given more than a half mil to a pitcher since Anderson Espinosa’s class, a decade ago.
Known baseball powerhouse Brazil
VAMOS !!! BRASIL PORRA !
came here to doom about how no great players have ever come from brazil but i changed my mind when i saw 17, 6’5” and 90+
17 and has 3ish pitches already. That impressive. Should probably calm down on the curve for now though. Don’t need Tommy John at 19
Nice.
This is so cool. Thanks for posting!
They’d be better off signing Alex Pereira. He would sure come in handy if a bench clearing brawl breaks out.
Love it.
Why do you think the Red Sox have such a big fanbase in Brazil?
No disrespect to anyone involved but lol
Thought Bres had a killer new mullet until I realized it was a shadow.
Interesting to hear about the Japanese community there. I watched the Little League Softball World Series either last year or the year before and there was a team from Brazil. Was shocked there was so many Japanese/Latin American mixed names. Loved it. lol.
> baseball is huge in the Japanese community here
> Brazil
🤨
How many prospects did they sign?? Seems like a lot…
Easily my fav post on this sub in long long time. This is what baseball is. That dream. That pride. Hope the kid kills it, man.
Ughhh can’t wait! So excited too, as a fellow brasilian that attends games at Fenway!!!
I like the sound of grabbing this burgeoning untapped market.
Hope it works out but this is purely a Henry entry point into Brazil. Just like Daisuke in Japan.
Orgulho define, caralho! 🔥👏👏🎉
finally the right handed power hitter we need!
That’s the most agent looking agent I’ve ever seen
6’5″ Brazilian? Nobody tell the LFC Academy…
To muito feliz! O que acontece agora? Ele fica no Brasil? Vai pra college nos Estados Unidos? Minor league? O que acontece normalmente?
The RS are certainly having a fine hot stove season. I put them at the top of the division with the Blue Jays and O’s. That’s right, Yankees nowhere to be found, they’ve sat on there asses all winter long not doing a thing worth talking about. George Steinbrenners’ grave is gonna erupt at an 8.5 eruption on the Richter scale. His son Hal better never die because if George gets his hands on him he’s gonna tar and feather him. Cashman and Boone while I’m at it suck baboon ass and should be put on a boat in the Soutern Ocean. Both are incompetent!!!
