The LA Clippers are SO Back

The Clippers are the hottest team in the NBA, have possibly two all-stars AND a top 5 player.

  5. Been a Clippers fan since 1992. I did start off a Lakers fan the first two years I started watching the NBA. My favorite Laker remains Michael Cooper. I didn't root for Kobe Bryant not because I hated the guy, but because he played for the Lakers. If you ask Clippers fans which team they hate the most, they will usually say Lakers followed by the Warriors.

    Clippers are now 11-2 after starting 6-21. But let's not get too excited. The only quality teams they've defeated were the Rockets and Pistons last month. The second time against the Pistons, they were missing Cade and a few others. So it's not like we have been beating a bunch of contenders. It's gotten soft in January. Rockets have been skidding lately. Our two losses were against good teams (Boston, @ NY). The Celtics throttled us good a couple of weeks back.

    Just remember, these are the same old Clippers. We are as cursed as the Chicago Cubs were for over a century. We are still one Kawhi injury away from returning straight to hell. A lot of our guys are really old and slow. Our Feb looks pretty rough. We would be lucky if we go 6-5. Then let's hope we finish going 18-6 in Mar/Apr. Here is my estimation: 17 wins + 5 (rest of Jan), + 6 (Feb) + 18 (Mar/Apr) = 46 wins. If we do a little better than my estimation, 50 wins is still in play. That means we went 44-11 (80%) after starting 6-21.

    I can never get too optimistic because it's the same story every year with these Clippers. Kawhi is out again or we can't beat Denver in a series or make it passed the First or Second Round. It's the same old shtick since Lob City. Get my hopes up only to get disappointed year after year. I know how Skip feels about his Cowboys. They give me this false hope only to realize it was just a tease. I personally don't think we are legit contenders at all. This season and next season feel like transitional seasons until we finally get out of the Kawhi business for good.

    I personally don't think the Clippers have any shot against OKC, San Antonio, and Denver in the First Round if we are 6-8. OKC's D is too suffocating and they're fast, young, and athletic that they run us out of the building. SA and Denver have nuclear weapons in Wemby and Jokić. The only teams we might be able to beat in a playoff series in the West are the Lakers and Warriors. But those two look like 6-8 teams and we would need to be top 3 to face them early. It's cool that we are winning again. But don't get too excited on our chances. Same old Clippers.

    I know my Clippers all too well. I know this roster is not a championship team. Don't be fooled by their recent play. They beat a couple of good and healthy teams in that stretch and that's it. I wish Lawrence Frank had the ballz to trade Kawhi and Harden while raising their trade value back up. Next year, they will have zero trade value. Lawrence Frank never wants to sell high. We watch them walk and get nothing for them.
