FRANCHISE CHANGER: Giants Sign TOP PROSPECT Luis Hernandez | Nico Hoerner price tag RISING

Happy Luis Hernández Day to all who celebrate. The Giants officially sign 17-year-old Venezuelan shortstop Luis Hernández for $5 million, and early evaluations suggest this is far more than a long-term lottery ticket. Multiple scouts believe Hernández is advanced enough to jump straight to Class A, with rare maturity, polish, and tool development for his age — making him one of the most MLB-ready international signees in this class. We break down what makes Hernández special, how he fits into a rapidly improving Giants farm system, and what his arrival means alongside elite prospects like Josuar González and Bryce Eldridge. Plus, we revisit the Nico Hoerner trade debate, why Chicago is likely holding firm, and how the Giants’ growing prospect depth could eventually create real trade flexibility. The present may feel middling, but the long game in San Francisco is starting to look a lot more intentional.

  1. Any trade that the Giants make at this point will at best be a lateral trade. So then what’s the point?
Another year of mediocrity is coming up and you can bank BIG on that

  2. Ok crew, not making this political, just posing a question: with what is happening in Venezuela as well as the state of work visas and immigration in the US, will this discourage some Latin prospects from coming to the US?

  3. It’s not crazy that Josuar could be ranked higher than Eldridge. He’s already. Hand down a better baseball player because Eldridge is only skill is swinging a bat. So if he does, what he did in the DSL, he will be above Bryce quickly. That is a price remains a prospect.

  4. Do not trade Josuar. Legit, 5-tool shortshops don't grow on trees. I would much rather trade Eldridge, whose only position is 1b, where he is blocked by Devers, or DH.
