  1. Wow. Really expected better from the non us players. I mean barkov come on man you’re Finnish you’re better than this.

  2. Love how he gets a golden stick, the symbol of great accomplishment in the league…for doing nothing.

At least we’ve appeased the tyrant for now.

  3. While we don’t like it, it’s the teams higher ups choice. And it’s an American team that wants to make business connections with the most powerful person on the planet. While I disagree with it I can’t really blame the players. It would be such a bad look for some players to refuse to go

  4. Thank goodness most of our boys look uncomfortable as hell like “wtf is this shit” 😂 E-Rod looks like he’s legit trying not to laugh 😂

  5. Sucks that both our wh visits came when that muppet is in power

In my own little hope filled world reino hated being there and I can still love him

  6. The one side of our team that I do not like one bit. On the ice they have my complete support. But most of their politics are absolute shit.

  7. Jesus Christ. Now I hate us, too. We look like a bunch of fascist boot-lickers while Americans are being killed in the streets by ICE.

  8. Nice to see the vast majority of familiar faces in this sub not groveling at the altar of the rapist in chief.

Looking forward to forgetting this repulsive display.

And hey, benefit of this thread is a nice block list for the MAGAts popping up (who coincidentally are also never people I see in the GDTs… hmmmmm…)

~~Also nice to see Marchand not there but it’s even more of a reminder that the individual players could have chosen not to attend. (EDIT: he may be there? Unclear.)~~ EDIT2: He is there. Ick.

  9. Worse in what way? They went to the white house and presented a jersey to the sitting US president like 95% of reining champs in the US have done for decades.

  10. With the owners having deep ties to the military I expected this again. Something to note about this team, is that they do everything as a team, for better or for worse.

  11. I mean this seems like a pretty standard White House visit/presidential interaction. Not sure what yall were expecting.

  12. As a Canadian fan it’s nice to see how many people here realize how toxic this man truly is

  13. This is why I don’t get my Stanley cup tattoo last year. They can never take the team from me—I went to the 96 Cup with my dad and I’ll be a fan for life—but I don’t want anything remotely associated with this specific crew on my body forever. It’s so sad because I have spent so much time loving the team.

  14. This isn’t surprising. Professional athletes don’t have to worry about many of the stupid things Trump has done. At the end of the day, it’s rich people supporting rich people. It just shows that even if you have a favorite team, the players aren’t the sweet cinnamon-rolls they may seem like on the ice. And neither are the staff, the ownership, or whoever. Sports is fun but this is just a stark reminder that every athlete is human and has the potential to have controversial, vile opinions and political beliefs. And, if it was a perfect world and the team actually didn’t like Trump, they probably wouldn’t even protest or anything. It’s about the money and fame. I used to think professional sports teams visiting the While House was cool, but at the end of the day, it’s some form of sportswashing. Especially now. And it’d make sense if Trump used this meeting as a way to distract the public from everything else that’s going on in the USA right now. Not surprised ¯_(ツ)_/¯
