Apparently Drury thinks this team will be competitive with a few minor tweaks. I don’t know what he’s been watching this year if he thinks that’s the case. Completely rotten core in need of a full rebuild while we wait out these NMCs.

  1. Exactly the wrong path forward. Fucking hate watching us do the same shit over and over.

  2. As a recovered alcoholic, the first thing they teach you in the program is: “Repeating the same actions over and over yet expecting different results is the definition of insanity.”

Too bad they don’t teach that in GM school

  3. Welp. If anyone thought Drury’s pursuit of Sherwood was temporary insanity pre-Fox and Igor injury, here’s proof he legitimately thinks this roster is a piece or two away from contention.

  4. Drury took a team that was close but not quite good enough get to the Stanley Cup and turned it into this mess we’ve seen the past two years.

As soon as the roster started to consist more of Drury’s signings and trades, we went to shit. So while I 100% think this is needed, letting Drury be the one to lead it does nothing to give me confidence we will see any positive long term results.

  5. I agree with this. Again. They’re only 4-5 forwards and a few defenseman away from being elite

  6. kappo kakko has 4 goals this season. keep thinking it’s a drury problem..
just a hilarious, over redundant take😑

  7. After he’s done destroying our franchise, Drury is going to fail upwards into a prominent position with the league office. This man will even fail at that and find a way to fail upwards to be the commissioner of the league one day.

  8. A “small step back”

    A “SMALL STEP BACK”????

    1. Go ahead and tell me who we are building around for this magical 2027-2029 window besides 2 players; Fox and Igor. Go ahead. Who else does that window make sense for?

    2. How are we acquiring the 10 other good-elite players we’d need to create a competitive team? With what assets? Just by asking nicely for teams to give us top 6 players for Brennan Othmann and a 3rd?

  9. I don’t think thats what this is saying. More like Washington a couple years ago, but you need to be able to draft competently to make that work and so far the only Drury draft pick that has made it to the NHL full time is Noah Laba. In 4 years he has only drafted one NHL player. You just need to be better than that.

  10. Holy fuck just get rid of him. I don’t want this bozo to fuck up our probably top 5 pick.

  11. What young players are available that would actually help the team? That’s the question I want answered. If there were young players available that produce and move the needle, then other teams would have them locked up for term already. If they’re not, then other teams don’t think they’ll help enough, so they certainly won’t help you.

Like, seriously, who the hell is available that’s under 25 ? No one because under 25 they’re probably RFAs. You’re not offer sheeting fuckin Leo Carlsson or Fantilli over here. There’s no way in hell you’re gonna be able to trade ANYONE on this team for a quality player 25 or younger (unless you’re nuts and trade Fox or Igor).

It should be “rebuild smartly through the draft, trade prospects that aren’t panning out for role players, and open cap space for long term deals on the prospects that are working”. None of this shit that’s just gonna wind up adding more Parsininen type players to the roster hoping your key players have career years over 32 years old at the same time.

It’s starting to feel like the rangers are about to be just like the Canucks of the eastern conference. Middle of the road team that isn’t good enough to make a run , and isn’t willing to be bad enough to get lottery picks. Look what that forced them to do…trade away their captain and the best the defenseman that franchise has ever had. If the rangers don’t make a decision now, then watch Fox get traded in two years…

  12. We took a nosedive the day we ditched Gorton and Davidson and hired Drury. He turned a slightly flawed but supremely talented team into… this mess. His first meaningful move was trading Buchnevich for Sammy Blais. And it somehow got worse

  13. I do not find this surprising at all. It’s objectively the most difficult path to choose, to stink this year and next year with hopes of rebounding the following year, but it’s not impossible.

Going to reserve my judgement to see what happens, first. Should shape up to be a relatively busy end of the month / early Feb.

  14. Stop going to games, stop buying any Rangers merch, hell stop watching and giving MSG viewers. Just ignore the team until the bad man is gone.

  15. i wonder if dolan ever realizes that these people he trusts because of their hairline are lying to him. probably not. [changed now to not]

  16. Broke up team chemistry because he hit the spending limit. We wont be any where a contender for a few years. Players looked at how Trouba and his family were treated and instead of fighting for one another, they saw the Rangers for what they are, a business.

  17. Face the facts. Igor is 30 years old, and IS their generational talent. Many teams have zero, but we have 1 (if you want to count Fox, 2). But still, he is now 30.

The ONLY way they’re gonna win with him IS “quickly”.

  18. It looks like it’s going to get worse for years to come. The Garden is going to have to be half empty before changes are made. This makes me want to barf.
