I won’t be able to mentally handle seeing him in another jersey.
If this and Soto are setting up the market for corner outfielders idk if AA is going to want to play with that. If we can’t even sign guys for 30-40 million a year contracts how are we gonna compete with him getting 70-80 million a year type offers from LA or NY? I hope I’m wrong.
This news was bad enough and I didn’t even think about the Acuña part of it.
But honestly the future of the MLB looks very murky right now. Sport can’t survive like this. Who knows what it will look like when he’s a FA.
Starting to be more and more on the side of the owners than the players union. Sick of listening to all these biased podcasters as well. Spouting this “Just spend more money” bs. Who have to be pro players union or they risk losing any chance of interviewing players.
At some point these salaries and contracts have to get so ridiculous that even these 1% owners/corporations have to say this isn’t sustainable even with their deferred payments, right?
I’m sure some other idiot also said the same thing when Nolan Ryan signed the first million dollar contract.
he’s gotta stay healthy to get that AAV. Tucker has played 135+ games 4 out of the last 5 years. Acuña has done it once. Of course, the one year he did it, he did things never done before.
If he stays healthy these next few years before he hits FA, the numbers will be nuts. Assuming the Braves don’t re-up before that happens, which I’m sure we’d all like.
I think before we get to re-signing him there will be a lockout and a salary cap will be put in place.
Keep in mind we also have club options on him in 27 and 28.
Weirdly… after he signed his below market deal, I prepared for him leaving at some point. Also with his injuries, we all know the front office won’t pay up. Enjoy it while you can. He will still be an all time brave.
We have him under control through 2028. There will be a new CBA by then which hopefully will course correct from what we are seeing in terms of caps and the non major market teams not able to keep star players
I’m worried too . Baseball feels broken
We are essentially priced out of any all star level free agents from here on out much less superstars like Ronald. Kyle Tucker has never even exceeded 5.5 WAR in a season. By comparison, Austin Riley has gone above 6.0 WAR in 3 separate seasons. Well Tucker is now making 300% of what Riley makes per season in AAV and Riley is our highest paid player in franchise history.
We will still get a few guys to take the rookie extensions buying out their arb and pre arb years but other than that we simply cannot compete at this level. I mean the Dodgers payroll and tax payment is going to come out to $600 million. The Braves made somewhere around $500 million in total revenue the last couple seasons. Yes, that’s right. The dodgers will spend more on just players salaries than 28/29 other teams make in a season period.
The sport is totally cooked.
More per season than maybe a top 10 all time NBA player at his peak in Jokic, for a corner outfielder who hit .266 with 22 homers and 73 RBI last year. The money in MLB – Dodgers land specifically – is absurd.
I’m starting to assume Acuna will also end up a Dodger
I welcome the lockout at this point. League is just a joke
The knees will keep him affordable.
This is cheating
Am I crazy to think that the Dodgers are so over leveraged that they are in serious risk of defaulting or going bankrupt??
A lot of people are saying how the Braves can’t compete with AAV and salaries for these kinds of players. But I think it’s also worth at least taking a look at other financial bubbles and comparing the MLB or just the Dodgers to see how this is possible.
Kyle Tucker is gonna make Ozzie Albies entire career contract between Opening Day and the All-Star Game 🤦♂️
Seems like to even compete this year Braves need two more solid starters.

I hear the Dodgers need a fourth outfielder.
They better pay this man
