Jim Harbaugh Hints at BIG Offensive Changes with Chargers Casting A Wide Net in Coordinator Search

The hosts discuss the Chargers’ search for a new offensive coordinator, highlighting what the front office is seeking: a proven, experienced leader capable of being the “head coach of the offense” and building an effective system around Justin Herbert. They also talk about the organization’s approach to the hiring process, emphasizing their openness to innovative ideas rather than being locked into a specific scheme.

The episode covers why Justin Herbert isn’t involved in the coordinator search, what that says about his role with the team, and reactions to that decision. The conversation shifts to the likely departure of defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and how that impacts the potential turnover on the rest of the coaching staff, including which assistants might follow him to a new opportunity. There’s also a segment on Navarro Bowman stepping down as linebacker coach, and what his departure means for the team.

On the roster and salary cap front, David Drogmeyer and David Drogmeyer evaluate Joe Hortiz’s careful approach to free agency and internal signings, outlining the balance between aggressive spending and maintaining long-term financial health. The episode wraps with thoughts on how these major coaching decisions could shape the Chargers’ offseason and what fans should expect next as the team enters a pivotal stretch.

  1. Said it yesterday, I’ll say it again. PROMOTE MINTER TO HEAD COACH. Harbaugh has done everything he can as the head coach, he’s turned the culture around and stabilized the franchise. But as long he’s just the CEO coach who doesn’t call plays then we’ll always be looking for new coordinators. The most consistent teams in the league have head coaches that are also play callers on one side of the ball (McVay, Shanahan, Reid, Macdonald, Payton, and now Coen, Ben Johnson). Continuity in scheme is so important in a league with so much turnover every year. Let’s keep Minter and at least have an elite defense every year

  2. Honestly, I'm tired of my teams stinking, then finally getting something good only for that good to hit the road. In this case, our D stink, stank, stunk til Minter came along…or my Huskers who had terrible special teams til Ekeler came along, now he's off to USC. Football is a business, I get that, but it doesn't make it easier

  3. Trade Herbert? He singlehandedly took us to the playoffs. You drive your your car to work with 4 flat tires, a sputtering motor and a gas tank full of holes, all while driving a stick with one broken hand and a beer in the other

  4. You guys are totally wrong on the we need a head coach for the offense. He is subliminally saying that the next offensive coordinator that they hire will not be fired due to Justin Herbert choking in the playoffs again literally read the writing on the wall.

  5. You guys are totally miss reading the interview. Why would they want a trusted offensive coordinator with a track record when we just released Greg Roman, who has exactly that maybe not the best track record, but he has some wins under his belt

  6. We saw what McDaniel managed to do with a healthy but physically limited Tua… McDaniel with Herbert’s ELITE tangibles would feed families 🙏⚡️

  7. Defense Coaches for the CHARGERS are dropping like dead flies. Minter is soon to go soon too. So it wont just be the offensive side of The Chargers coaching that needs to be replaced. Prayers and Believe for 2026.

  8. Who was the last RB that could pick up two yards on third down. O-line problems have been a problems, but having a consistent running game is a HUGE problem. Play action only works when you can run the ball.

  9. Signing Linderbaum is a must. We cannot have bradley starting again, guy is awful. Hope we can convince Minter to stick around and have Mack back for another year.

  10. I agree 100% on what was said about coach Navarre Bowman , I heard some dumb people trying to say he didn't help our Line Backers. I disagree with those casual watchers

  11. Its amazing how dumb some of our fans are !😂
We are not going through Anything other teams dont go through .
More Games are lost than won in this League and winning is very Hard .
Finding a Franchise Qb is hard .
Justin is Exactly a Young Peyton Manning and the stats prove it .
    Chargers owned Peyton .
    Herbert Owns Joe Burrow .
We could not get past Brady like 90 percent of the league or we might have 2 Bowls .
We were 4th in wins for a long time under Spanos .
Miss me with all your Negative B.S. and Whining !
Either Continue to Bolt up or Bail out with your Pampers Box .

    I remain Fully Charged 🎉

  12. Who is sick of losing, who is sick of not having a championship opportunity? then fight, fight freak, forgiveness, and fight for honor and fight for someone that who is ADHD, crazy, insane! A person that can lead an entire LA charger to break the rules for an opportunity to win the playoffs and go on to the Super Bowl! We don’t need an offense coordinator or defense coordinator. We need someone that can motivate the whole entire team to fight. The only time they fight is when they’re talking to the press conference. how about we say no more press conference
