  16. This is almost the same letter that was written 5 or whatever years ago. Seems like writing is on the wall for bread and some others (Fox, Tro, Mika?).

    Telling us that we’re gonna see beloved players go away but also saying they’re building around the core seems contradictory at best. Talking out of both sides of his mouth, probably because he literally cannot make plans because his shitty contracts give everyone the right to veto being traded.

  20. I mean this seems like the most realistic direction. The NMCs make it so you can’t full on rebuild and have to keep at least part of the vet core. I imagine they move who can be moved and try to do a Washington type thing.

  21. I’m honestly fine with this. People will mock it and call it corny but I’d rather see this than nothing at all. My question is though, who is the “core” we’re building around? Anyone except Fox, Igor, and Gabe should be on the table

    With our position in the standings and injuries to key players this season, we must be honest and realistic about our situation. We are not going to stand pat – a shift will give us the ability to be smart and opportunistic as we retool the team. This will not be a rebuild. This will be a retool built around our core players and prospects. We will target players that bring tenacity, skill, speed, and a winning pedigree with a focus on obtaining young players, draft picks, and cap space to allow us flexibility moving forward. That may mean saying goodbye to players that have brought us and our fans great moments over the years. These players represented the Rangers with pride and class and will always be a part of our family.

    As we start on this new strategic plan, we will continue to play hard with pride and passion for our fans.   32. Glad the letter came out, but a retool is not the answer. You have to hit rock bottom in order to have sustained success in this league. Rangers got a 1OA and 2OA pick by sheer luck and still couldn’t capitalize on it. You need multiple kicks at the can with prospects before finding the right ones.

    I get that you cannot trade all your veterans but you need to trade most of them for a proper rebuild. I’d keep Shesterkin, Gavrikov, and Zibanejad to see this process through. Everyone else needs to be made available for the right price; and that price cannot be too steep. Why keep these players and suck when you can have younger players and still suck?

  33. Great to see. Rangers core is pretty good when everyone is healthy, with an elite 1D and goalie. Mika’s having a resurgence and Miller is great when he’s not injured so that at least covers us down the middle. Honestly think we’ll be competitive sooner rather than later once we get some depth pieces in the retool. LGR!

    It had to happen, I mean we’re just so in the shit at this point I don’t know how else you can fix it.

    But this letter buys Drury at least another off-season, probably 2. I haven’t been as feverently anti-Drury as the rest of the sub but even I don’t think he should be running things. The organization needs a top to bottom cleansing, from Drury to the scouting department. That seems unlikely now.

    Panarin is likely gone. Who else? Laf i assume is next. Do they entertain a Rempe trade? Who do they consider a part of the core? So many questions.

  39. I swear to me this letter reads “we’re trading pending ufa’s and maybe some depth guys like Soucy and Raddysh and running it back with most of the same core next year” which gives me absolutely zero hope
