As Big Bats Come Off the Board, the Yankees Push Harder for Cody Bellinger

Cody Bellinger’s free agency may be reaching a turning point. Trevor May, Erik Kratz, and Scott Braun break down the latest reporting that the New York Yankees are willing to add multiple opt-outs, a significant signing bonus, and no deferrals to their offer in an effort to land Bellinger. The guys discuss why the years remain the biggest sticking point, how the Yankees are getting creative to close the gap, and what Bellinger appears to value most at this stage of his career. The conversation also explores whether New York truly has to get this deal done, what a potential compromise could look like, and how the rest of the market is reacting as options continue to shrink.

  1. Maybe free agents want nothing to do with Yankees & Judge. If you’re a free agent, do you wanna take blame for Judge’s continued failures like A-Rod did from 2004-2008?? Do you wanna play in a ballpark where fans treat players like crap including the Mookie Betts incident?? Fans chased players away bc blamed them for everything which includes Burnett, Gray, Cortes, Montgomery, Gallo..etc Reap what you sow

  2. I’m Yankees fan, but I don’t want them to go crazy for this guy. We’re gonna end up in a situation where we’re paying a guy money that’s not even playing anymore like DJ. I think we should put Jason out there and left every day. see what he can do and have some cheap defensive only outfielder to replace him in the ninth inning. I’m sure you can find someone somewhere even if it’s a minor lease it’s only for defense someone with defense and who can bunt would be good.

  3. The Dodgers and the Mets always find a way. Why can't the Yankees? Do the Yankees feel the same desire to win as the Dodgers and the Mets? It seems clear that the Yankees owners have other priorities.

  4. Cody is not a must sign AT ALL that’s just overpaying to hopefully stay the same which we already know is not enough…. Let him walk we lost with him…. We can lose without him… I’d rather keep the money for skubal

  5. Am I the only Yankee fan who does NOT want the Yankees begging a SLIGHTLY above-average outfielder to take an over-paid, too-long contract? And don't forget did NOT win with him last year. So there's no reason to think he's magically going to make the World Series contenders this year….let alone as he gets older.

  6. Signing belly won’t make a difference, is over before even started, nothing left to put a competitive team together. Everyone got better but my beloved Yankees. Cashman and Hal the dynamic duo …well doesn’t matter

  7. Yankees running it back but paying more money to Grisham and Bellinger + trading for Weathers doesn't excite me whatsoever. We make a baby move while the Dodgers make the game changing moves. Yankees should just let Cody go cause our window is closed.
