2. I think the Lakers should follow the blueprint of the 2023 Nuggets. They weren't good defensively, but the Nuggets had a top 5 offense. The Lakers have three 20+ ppg scorers, but the team takes only 85 FGAs per game, second to last in the league. Luka takes 23 shots, AR around 17, and Bron 15. If they can speed up the pace and improve to 90 to 95 FGAs, that could get Bron 17-19 shots, AR 19-21 shots, and give DA, Rui, and Jake more shots.

   Sometimes the best defense is the best offense. Maybe their identity is as a high-scoring team. Even with AD, the Lakers weren't a top 15 defensive team. They're top 10 last season with Bron and DFS handling the defensive holes AD left, but scoring became a problem vs the Wolves.

   Eventually, the 2023 Nuggets fixed their defense in the playoffs, had a top 10 defensive rating, and won the NBA Finals.

18. Lakers can’t jump to make moves for the sake of making moves that won’t make a difference to a poor team this year. The offence will pick up when AR is back but there is no athleticism or defence and that will take money and picks. Lakers will have more to deal with and be in a better cap situation next season to make moves.

19. Lakers haven't had athletes in over a decade. Roster construction has been horrible. That's why we lack in transition D and half court D.

20. Honestly I think this team is what it is because of coaching and the GM.

    The GM hasn’t done a great job building a team with good players and has given contracts to guys who still weren’t really all that proven in the nba. He’s let go of players who have ended up being really good over more raw players way to much and has misjudged players potential.

    But the coaching decisions have been bad. I get Kleber hasn’t been what you wanted but only playing one big is just dumb. The fact he keeps picking guards over Bronny is another issue. If you look at him up to the Bucks game which after that his minutes went down he was the best player at contesting 3’s and he was one of the best deflections and steal percentage guys on the team. He just couldn’t shoot and struggled with dribble penetration defense which guess what so does everyone else you’ve been playing. So to not try him out especially since his shot seems to be coming around is just crazy. The thing that got Ham canned was the fact he was so stubborn and wouldn’t play other players instead of who he was bias towards and it looks honestly like JJ is falling victim to the same thing. He also isn’t putting players on offense in their best places. Both Smart and Gabe have been better corner 3 point shooters over above the break. Yet you have them playing above the break to often that they are taking to many of those shots. This also would let Jake shoot more above the break 3’s which has been his best shot.

22. A Derick Lively type player with high energy, good defense, a decent mind, lob threat would be close to heaven. Herb Jones seems to have said he wants to move, and the Lakers could jump on that, and then if they can get Keon Ellis, that would make them a contender even if JJ is a bad coach.

    I'm kinda done with the whole blame Luka for everything nonsense. He usually plays with effort; his defensive stance is good, his hands are in the face, he just isn't fast (no shit), and yeah, he complains. LeBron complains on every single play and walks back more than he jogs and certainly more often than he runs, and it's not ever mentioned, and Ayton somehow is slower to get on defense and offense than both, even when he starts ahead. That's an issue that can be easily fixed, LeBron on fewer mins should be easier with Rui coming back, and especially when AR is healthy, Ayton could have a shock collar controlled by the coaches, and Luka this szn has mostly complained during the "pause" or while getting back, and it didn't really happen at the start of the szn so if they can get back to playing with joy it will be sorted out.

    You have to get rid of the JJ idea of leaving a bad shooter open; they have to realize that they aren't playing against the Lakers, so players will be able to shoot at a 35% rate or above. There is also the issue of lack of consistency of rotations and roles, communication, bad roles, schemes, and effort. When even their best defenders get blown by regularly, fuck up switches, or just lose sight of their guy, it's not "just get a new guy it will fix everything" type of an issue. JJ needs to step up his game, and maybe Mark Walter can help with getting the best of the best to help him out, together with improving the scouting guys.
