With Jason Dickinson’s name being thrown around in trade talk I made a few mocks for what it could be and wondered what you guys thought.
3 teams that are in need of center/forward depth that are looking playoff bound/buyers are the Stars, Capitals, and Wild.
I think Dickinson’s ideal destination would be Dallas as he has played there before. The Stars aren’t deep on prospects but they did find good value in Cameron Schmidt who was a 3rd round pick in the 2025 draft but has 66 points in 42 games. He is undersized but has scored a good amount of points on a bad WHL and has recently joined the Seattle Thunderbirds which the Blackhawks have a few players that played juniors there. Attached with the trade would just be a late round pick to make the draft gap shallow in 2027.
For the Minnesota Wild they are fully buying in for this and next year to win a cup. The trade would be conditional on the Wild’s performance this coming playoffs and/or Dickinson signing in the offseason. If the Wild make it to the 2nd round or he re-signs it would be the 2027 1st round pick. If they don’t reach the 2nd round and he does not re-sign it would downgrade to a 2028 2nd.
The final team with a couple different directions to go for a trade would be the Capitals. They have an incredible prospect pool but I don’t see them trading the high end of the pool for a rental, so it would either look to be a couple players in the AHL being Ivan Miroshnichenko who was a 2022 1st round pick or Ryan Chelsea who was a 2nd rounder in 2022 and played with Rinzel and Moore at Minnesota. Both are still projects but would add in some future depth and develop more in Rockford with more TIO.

If you can get the first for Dickinson you take it but I would think that’s an overpay for Minnie
WHY would Minnesota give up a first for a rental of Dickinson? That’s an absolutely asinine trade mock.
If Davidson is able to get a 2nd for Dickinson, he should be nominated for GM of the year. No way that Dickinson is worth more than a 3rd or (more than likely) 4th.
Dickinson is probably worth a 3rd round pick.
You’re overvaluing Dickinson like crazy. A team like Minnesota would definitely use that 1st (with a prospect, or more picks) towards a centre like Trocheck, Thomas.
People are so delusional about what Jason Dickinson is. Think about it, he’s barely cracking the roster on this Blackhawks team. What contender has a worse option at center than Jason Dickinson in their bottom 6? Even if there are one or two teams that need center help I think people’s expectations about the return we are going to get is insane. If Jason Dickinson ends up being moved it will look like a favor deal that Kyle Davidson does to find him a team to go on a playoff run with and we will end up retaining some of his salary.
Dickinson & Murphy for Robertson & Harley. Take it or leave it.
4th Rounder or future considerations is more likely the return if they aren’t acquiring a bad contract in return to hit the cap floor.
You should try posting these on [https://puckgm.puckpedia.com/](https://puckgm.puckpedia.com/) and get some real feedback from Dallas/Minnesota/Washington fans. Then you’ll get a better idea what they think they would give up for him.
I believe it is also illegal to trade a draft pick for a player and have it be conditional on whether the traded player re-signs with the team that acquired him. So you wouldn’t be able to say that the draft pick becomes lower if Dickinson doesn’t sign with Minnesota in the offseason.
