It’s so strange to me that ime has slowly moved away from Reed since our last Portland game.
Obviously Reed has his defensive flaws but his spacing is too much of a threat to sit on the bench and play less than 15 mins a night, Ime needs to just ride the Reed wave he’s going to come with his inconsistency’s at time (he’s still pretty much a rookie) however he’s such a difference maker for our offence and it’s so clear to see. Even today I thought ime could have gotten him more than 19 mins considering how well he was playing, making all the right plays on offence but we won in the end so it’s ok.
Also Reed is still top 20 in the highest plus/minus for the year and also has a BPM of 3.4! For reference usually a 2.0 is a good starter 4.0 is an all star level player 6.0 all nba and 8.0 is mvp. There’s just too many advanced stats that show Reed is actually a very serviceable player but hard to keep moving forward when Ime doesn’t trust him.

Reed is a great shooting guard. I think his development was rather slow, but I think if he is to excel he should not play PG. Unfortunately, he is undersized so there is that. His talent is undeniable though as he is a great shooter and I hope he continues to grow.
If Ime is the defensive mastermind everyone claims, then why can’t he implement a defensive scheme to mitigate Reeds weakness on that end? Surely he isn’t the 1st guard to be targeted? And he isn’t THAT small either!

He also needs to play better. Gotta take personal that teams target him every trip down.
also top 3 in terms of 3p%, both at home and otr. he is wasted potential… he has the skills, but his confidence is so down! need a better coaching team for this guy.
Not to shit on reed bc i agree , but up until last night for the last couple of games reed was playing like ass and was getting cooked by literally everyone. Ime was right for reducing his minutes to show him there are repercussions for playing bad
No reason him and amen shouldn’t be starting together.
If he shoots well enough.
When he is playing well, absolutely.
The problem is he is still a young player and his defensive utility while not garbage is not the best. So those nights he isn’t shooting well or making the right steals can be painful.
That being said, he seems to have some court vision which is needed if he sticks with us we will need him to be the point guard/long range shooter
He needs to stop getting cooked on defense. Championship level teams don’t have obvious mismatches that can be hunted.
Not always.
There are games and schemes that he struggles with.
The problem is that our coach doesn’t seem capable of understanding that and adapting our game.
Yesterday for example, Reed should’ve played way more.
Ime is not able to identify when a player is hot and should be getting more minutes and when should go to the bench.
I love Reed, but it’s clear that he still needs to develop, sometimes he’s scared to shoot and becomes a minus on the court.
I think for now he works really well as a 6th man where his usage is much higher and he can provide great offense from the bench. In the future he’ll be great but for now I think starting okogie or tari is the best option.
