Sure it would be fun, I'm a Bader fan but it would be a novelty move at best. 🤷🏻‍♂️

And I'm a fan of the guy.

Then again – why not!?

  1. This is so weird. This is the third time I’ve heard this rumor from 3 different sources today

  2. Because the whole point of this season is to see whether our young players have any promise. We know what Bader is already and he’d just block playing time from Victor Scott

  3. The main reason to do it would be as a buy low trade chip, like we are doing with Dustin May and Stanek. basically, pay him a low salary, give him a showcase the first half of the season, and await for some team to have an injury and need a guy. Then flip him for a prospect.

I’m for it in that regard if he’s cheap. We’ll probably go w/ VSII, Walker, and noot right now, so Bader can get plenty of reps and provide some veteran mentorship. He was active in the community and with the fans, so that’s something that the young guys could emulate.

We don’t have many good options on 40 man or in pipeline, until Baez is ready (which could be this year, but they’ll let him cook at AAA at least a few months). Bader can soak up a few hundred ABs and give them a good bobblehead promotion.

  4. At this point, if Bloom did, I’d trust he had a plan. On its face though, seems pointless.

  5. This would be a stupid baseball move unless he fell into our laps at a cheap 1 year deal. We still need to trade Nootbaar.

  6. As a fan, I get frustrated with how many people live in the past and want this stuff…..As a team we have been consistently good from like the late 1990s to like 2022…..Teams like the Red Sox, Phillies and other comparable franchises have like rebuilt 4 to 5 times with several shitty seasons during that span…..Let’s bring back Bo Hart because it feels good!

  7. The why not is that it takes away opportunity for guys that have a chance of being significant contributors in the future from getting MLB experience

  8. I dont mind it, only because we have zero right handed hitting centerfielders. If Saggesse playing CF is true, then I wouldn’t worry about it.

  9. I would say, with a MASSIVE caveat (and I too am a fan of Bader).

We need a right handed hitting outfielder, and if one of Walker, Scott II, or Church go down – assuming Nootbaar is still out – who else do we have? Not too mention, 3/4 of our OF hits left handed.
