  1. What they should do is offer him 10 years $380M. Except they should do it 2 years ago. The only way he is staying now is because he just wants to. They already missed their chance to show they appreciate and value him. They could have offered him a back loaded deal, maybe even for like $30M AAV a couple years ago. He would be taking under market, THEY would be showing their appreciation by letting him make more money now instead of waiting to play out his existing contract. That's how you get guys to take big discounts. That's what they did for everyone they have extended long-term except Riley and Olson who came here with only 1 year of control. Ozzie had 4 years when he extended. Took a lowball deal. Ronald had 5 years of control when he extended. Took a low deal. Strider and Harris each had 5 years and change of control and took low end deals. Ronald has 2 option years after this year. He's almost at the end of the tunnel. Why take a low offer now? They have lost their leverage.
