The Arizona Cardinals completed their interview with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh late Thursday, as the franchise gets closer to hiring their next head coach in 2026. Saleh is reportedly the top choice for Arizona, with his head coach experience and being a defensive mastermind. Since the interview, NFL Network Mike Garafolo has stated that one of the demands for Saleh is that he wants to call the defense at his next head coaching job.

  1. Gotta say, Saleh *did* look like a tried-and-true Cardinals HC out their tonight watching his team get futt bucked on national tv by the c-ocks

  2. Seattle is the best team in the NFL right now. Niners offense kept giving the Seahawks the ball. And the Niners were playing with practice squad players on Defense. This game doesn’t define Saleh as a HC. He’s still the best available coach we would want. Even over Kubiak. I like Kubiak and he’s my close 2nd behind Saleh.

  3. I don’t think that’s much of a deterrent. The real question would be who does he and amo to bring in to call the offense

  4. Some Cardinals fans amaze me, we all wanted Gannon gone but now some fans are being picky with Saleh because of that game or Hafley with his game plan against the Bears last weekend. The 49ers injuries were gonna catch up to them eventually and they faced a juggernaut against Seattle and the Bears aren’t some pushover anymore with Ben Johnson now.

I’ll gladly take Saleh with his passion alone and he could bring some good coaches with him from San Francisco or I trust Hafley would also bring some from Green Bay’s coaching staff. Let’s all just be glad Denver won today because Bidwill would already be calling Vance Joseph and offer him the job had they lost.

  5. I wonder if he’s actually the “top choice” or if that’s just some made up click bait lmao

If he called the defense it would at least negate some of the money Michael owes Kliff/Gannon by not paying for a DC so that’s a positive in Bidwill’s book.

I’m always in the fence about a HC calling plays in place of an OC/DC though and that was a huge criticism of Kingsbury and most of us thought he needed an OC.

Honestly I wouldn’t hate him given our candidates so far. At least he gets fired up and looks like he gives a shit unlike JG.

I can’t blame anyone for failing with the Jets, though. Literally nobody has been able to save that franchise in decades. We ain’t much better but at least we’re not Jets level dysfunctional.
