Someone explain

  1. Absolutely bombed on their two first round picks. Absolutely bombed their mle signings in Nunn and gabe. Absolutely bombed the Westbrook trade.

Imagine they had signed NAW and someone like Okogie for the same money they gave Gabe. NAW signed a 2 year $4.5m a year deal with Minnesota that same off-season. Yeah obviously hindsight but that’s why you have scouts.

  2. There’s guys like Kessler edwards Kai jones who can make a difference. However they have wasted roster spots in bronny james and one wasted roster spot cuz of cap. Plus so many shit players like Knecht, Gabe, vando, Kleber etc

  3. Many of the players are not playing to their pay. Gabe and vando should been like 5M, instead of 10-11M. Rui should have be in the range of 15M. Damn Niko overpaid Kleiba and lastly Lebron sometimes play like a 51 million player and sometimes like an 41 yr old man.

  4. New ownership needs to step in at some point and overhaul everything, including scouting, player development and dumping Pelinka

  5. Luka and LeBron make up roughly a little under 99 million of the cap. The Lakers are hard capped at the 1st apron and can’t above 196 million.

  6. lol are yall okay? Do yall not realize they JUST GOT Luka?! They had 1 offseason with no real free agents to help them defensively or shooting. Give it time. It’s the Lakers. They have won a championship with every superstar player they’ve ever acquired lol.

  7. Had 4 main rotation guys out, including our two highest scorers and our center rotation. With that said, the lack of depth boils down to missing on previous free agencies and drafts.

Gabe and Vando are both $10mil players but are barely producing on court value. Kleber was part of the Luka trade, so not gonna really hold that against the FO. If you wanna go back further, Lonnie only lasted a year. If Monk hit (which he did), he was always going to get paid elsewhere (which he did). Jaxson is the only pre-2025 signing that’s still around and contributing but it took several seasons for him to look like a solid backup big.

Whiffed on JHS. Knecht has drastically regressed. Bronny was going to be a project, Adou hasn’t been healthy. Basically, a big fat 0 on incoming (cheap) players.

  8. It feels like a large percentage of fans don’t realize how difficult roster construction is with the current CBA. Unless you have a lot of picks and very tradable players it is extremely difficult. The FA pool is also very weak most years with few younger players on the market, most guys that hit UFA are coming off their 7th, 8th, 9th years and are around 30 years old. Due to the MLE the team was hard capped this season and was basically a non-player last summer in FA bit somehow managed to add Smart, LaRavia and Ayton. After this season half the salary comes off the books and potentially three 1st rounders can be moved along with 3 swaps. 2026 offseason is when judging can really start how well roster is constructed around Luka.

  9. Conveniently leaving out one key player and his salary.

And no one was complaining about depth early in the season when it was AR and Luka running the show.

  10. Dalton Knecht was considered a steal
    Thiero is injured

Vincent has been disappoint but Smart was a great move

Ayton was a high value acquisition who is now playing for a bigger contract

LaRavia was a good pickup – see how DFS is producing this season

Bronny is there because of his dad. Maybe he will be a smaller version of Scottie Pippen Jr or Gary Payton Jr in the future

Lakers don’t have the luxury and pressure that OKC to Spurs to Pistons have that prevents them from going through losing seasons to have players developed

Lorenzo Ball to Julius Randle to Jordan Clarkson to DLo to Brandon Ingram to Josh Hart are good to very good players but not Da Face of a Franchise Playa material like a Luka.

With the salary cap restrictions, it is harder for teams from the Knicks to Celtics to Lakers put together great rosters – note what happened to the Cs. Spike Lee’s Knicks haven’t been to The Finals for years.

All the other players mentioned in this thread might/probably not have the same production because of the scrutiny, lack of patience from fans to management, need to always perform at a high level because every other team has circled their games in bold colors bedside they are the NBA’s most iconic winning team (know that the Cs have one more ring but nobody is telling them to make all kinds of trades, while the Lakers are always in the news) and the lights of LaLaLand where Jack Rules the front court seats with all the other celebs

This type of post will tear down many good to very good players, as history has shown

Newbie Casual Laker fans (and they have the right) to complain about anything, even if it doesn’t make sense.

Wonder where these fans were at when the Lakers were in 2nd place

Trailblazers beat the Rockets in a recent back-to-back games, Spurs have recently lost a few games and OKC lost tonight

NBA season will humble every team

  11. Lakers need to find guys like camara, sharpe, or Caleb love.. camara had a off night but those dudes play fast and attack with decent defense

  12. It’s really just a poorly constructed roster regardless of payroll.

The only thing Luka/LeBron needs are defenders and shooters around them and guess what we have.

  13. The lakers are just a terribly ran organization. The gm has donkey brains. The owners dont give a shit about anything but filling seats. Theyre so damn retarded they have had Lebron for 7 years and still haven’t figured out how to build an above average team around him.

  14. Don’t forget LeBron eating up a lot of the payroll. I think the Lakers are gonna be better once he’s gone

  15. Striking out on two straight first round picks is pretty brutal in the position they’re in. Don’t think JHS is even in the league and can’t imagine Dalton is worth anything at all.

  16. It’s so obvious yall don’t understand how the cap works and you honestly just need to shut the fuck up instead of bitching and moaning. You weren’t whining about this roster when we were healthy and flowing. The Nuggets having a nice little streak makes you forget that over the course of a season, teams are going to suffer when they lose 30+ ppg in injuries.

No team is going to be a consistent contender missing a guy scoring 27-5-6. This shit also won’t matter in the playoffs when you’re running an 8 man rotation anyway, and we have a strong 8 man rotation with 2 generational players in there. This is why we’re good in clutch games, we have enough to get the win but they can’t go balls out for 82 games.

The Celtics can go balls out cause no one is gonna give af when they’re burnt by the playoffs and get bounced in 5 games in round 1 since they got no Tatum. The Nuggets have been darlings many years and then flame out in the playoffs and everyone complains they don’t have depth even though they were flying during the regular season.

Yall get really loud when you have the memory of a goldfish, like we haven’t watched this same fucking roster have great vibes and chemistry while racking up major wins. You’re not gonna be an 82 game squad with a 41 year old making $52mil. Funny how that part is missing from the tweet, how many teams got a 41 year old part timer eating up their biggest salary slot?

  17. Trading so many players and picks for AD won them a title, but greatly depleted their stock of players and trade assets.

Then the Westbrick deal set them back even more.

It seems like they have been playing catchup ever since.

They also made some bad draft picks and FA signings.
