[Matheson] I still think the #BlueJays could still use another high-end bat. There’s a major outfield need beyond ’26, too. Amid all the reporting.. and all of the guesswork carefully presented as fact.. it’s also important to acknowledge deals can happen that no one expects, like Giménez.

TATIS
Trade incoming
Keegan looks bored since no worthy speculation now.
Kwan seems like such a perfect fit stylistically, plus there’s the Cleveland connection. And having a lefty who hits at the top of the order (between Springer and Vlad perhaps?) would just be such a thing of beauty.
Still unlikely to happen, since the Jays have typically gone after overpaid players to avoid giving up much prospect capital, and not underpaid guys like Kwan who would cost a lot, but we’ll see.
I expect a Lauer+Luke’s(possibly Schneider or Loperfido) to be dealt for either additional bullpen depth or an improvement.
Myles Straw is now expandable because he didn’t successfully recruit Tucker lol
Maybe trade for a guy like Kyle Tucker or Bo Bichette
Would be somethin very random like O’Neil Cruz
I mean the Padres aren’t trading Tatis. Not sure what else is out there. Should have prioritized signing Bo right when the season ended.
There’s still a couple decent pitchers, and pitchers who could rebound on the market too.
I’m okay with the roster as-is going into 2026. It’s 2027+ that gives me pause. It’s possible that another big move could happen, but I think it’s much more likely that they’re mostly done until the trade deadline.
Keegan says: *feelings are not facts*
I mean am I the only one who’s still confident in the team despite missing on the top of the position player free agents? I like their lineup, I like their players.
Bellinger.
Tatis is great. But do the Jays has the prospects to make it happen? Because if Tatis was available it seems the Yankees has better prospects to offer
ACUNA JR?
They just lost their second best hitter. Anyone who thinks this roster is as good now as it was at the end of the season, or doesn’t think they need a bat is fooling themselves.
They absolutely need a high end bat.
The Jays can’t bank on Okamoto filling Bo’s production and a 36 year old George Springer putting up another 166 wRC+ season.
God I love Keegan. He’s the most pragmatic and realistic out of all the “insiders”
Probably won’t address the need of a big bat this off-season but hopefully come trade deadline if the D-Backs/Padres are bad Marte/Tatis become available. I’d be fine with ditching Parker for Tatis but they need to fill that hole in the lineup.
I want Kwan so badly
Trade options:
Steven Kwan: Jays always trade with the Guardians, he fits the profile the Jays like in a hitter.
Lars Nootbaar: Project for Popkins. Exit velo, bat speed, and good chase/whiff rates. Feels like he’s possibly a tweak away.
Oneil Cruz: Similar to Nootbaar (way more swing and miss), but excellent tools.
I think they should run it as is. See what needs they have at the trade deadline. Between D Schneider, Lukes, Loperfido, and Santander, let’s see what they can do
BRANDON DONAVAN!!
Batting Average (AVG): .287 (Tied 19th in MLB).
On-Base Plus Slugging (OPS): .775 (Tied 64th in MLB).
Hits: 152.
Doubles: 30+ (Among league leaders).
Key Role: A consistent presence, often leading off and playing multiple positions, showing strong plate discipline.
They 1000 times need one more bat, watch the WS again during clutch time. Jays had half the team not capable of hitting the ball past the pitcher. Lukes, Varsho, Straw, IKF were automatic outs.
This team desperately needs a closer. Why can’t we sign Kenley Jansen or someone who doesn’t give up home-runs to Ozzie Smith type hitters in nearly every appearance?
