  1. I think that slaf driving the 2nd line has has made him a so much better player.
Can the 1st line thrive with him on it?
Of course it would, but the first line is always going to be really good because it has Suzuki and Caufield on it.
Him on the second line has more of an upside.
He drives what is often the best line with a future franchise player in his rookie year, is more important than making sure the first line is more often than not the best line, is a better strategy.
    Fuck I'm blabbering
    Go Habs Go!

  2. Cole Caufield found some open ice, clear of the Ottawa Senators in O.T. He let go a seemingly easy to handle slapshot from the right side that went right by Leevi Merilainen. Cole's 2nd of the night which happens to be the game winner notched in overtime. He used a slow wind-up and Merilainen was caught off guard, got a huge piece of it, however, he was unable to stop the puck.

  3. Very smart guys ! To get first line top going you cancel second line 👌😉 yeah thats so usual and wrong. Why? You put Slaf driving the play into spot of board worker!

  4. imagine thinking Laine is somehow going to help a team that needs to improve its defensive coverage and make strong plays to get into the zone and keep the puck. Or help with maintaining the culture of earning your way by being responsible. The reason they don't have shots is because they don't have the puck enough. Laine is a huge liability most nights. Everyone calls him a PP merchant, which A) is a terrible reason to take up a roster spot, and B) not even true. He WAS at one point last year but how was he towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year? not great. He had 8 in December of 2024, then only 7 for the rest of the year, 2024-25 including 0 in April while trying to clinch. Then in 25-26 he had 0 in 4 games (and a minus 3) before being put on IR. Were those important goals last year that helped us get in the playoffs? Absolutely. But if you only do one thing, at the expense of everything else, you better do it more than twice a month. He is NOT our saviour this year.

  5. They need to shot more but they're working on how to move opponents away and create space. MTL are not Carolina, they dont need to shoot as much to score, different way to play based on fast transition and puck possession.

  6. Keep the second line intact they will have better metrics as the season goes on. The Canadiens need to find someone to play on the first line with Suzuki and Caufield. Hopefully Hughes can get cook up a deal.
Keep Laine on the sidelines as long as possible.

When a team has the problems in net that Ottawa has shoot as much as you can. Force Ottawa to try an protect their goalie from not giving up 6 goals on 19 shots.

  7. The Cardiac Kids were at it again! We need another Slaf type player (if only Bergevin was listening to me scream when he took KK instead of Brady Tktchuk🤦‍♂) for the first line. Playing as the leader of the second line is what let loose the beast Slaf has become. Keep the faith and Go Habs Go!

  8. A win is a win but we were badly outplayed much of the night. D zone coverage continues to an issue that needs to be corrected. Carrier got beat off the wall by Stutzle and and Sanderson blew by him leading to a goal.
Bolduc played better! Goal disallowed and showed some jump with Evans.

  9. I like Slaf on the kid line and only being brought up when the game needs it.

Having him and Suz split feels like our version of splitting Draisaitl and McDavid… it divides the other coaches defensive deployment. And you can bring them together; like MSL did tonight; when you need to shift up expectations and put all your eggs in one basket.

  10. This team has stamina and grit. They didn't play very well but they found a way to win. With Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Demidov and Hutson, we haven't seen so much offensive talent in Montréal since the Seventies! If they can improve their defensive game, they will terrify every other team in this league.

  11. In the next year or two, the Habs will find a balance between trying to set up the perfect shot and actually shooting. I find that we have too many expectations of this team at the moment. It will come and we will have a dynasty soon.

  12. The montreal canadians were up 2 they nearly lost the game being down 2 goals. We got lucky that our team actually stepped up when we pulled our goalie.Unlike the other times when we were down to Buffalo and please do not do not, and I say again. Do not praise montebou, for this game. He sucks, and that's the bottom line. Send him down to Laval, or get rid of them because he's being protected by somebody in the organization that don't want to trade him because he's related to somebody probably. And most likely montebo is one of the worst goalies i've ever seen in canadiens' history

  13. I'd keep doing what Marty did. Keep Slaf on the second line and switch him once in a while on the first line in desperate situations. Dach and Laine 3rd and forth line. I would put Newhook on the first line. That second line is too good to be split up. Cole and Nick can make anyone look good!
