DAMN IT: Packers EXTEND Matt LaFleur, why Green Bay made RIGHT MOVE | The Paul Farrington Show

Paul Farrington and Robert “Ziggy” Ziegler react to the Green Bay Packers extending head coach Matt LaFleur. The guys discuss whether Green Bay made the right move following the Packers’ crushing loss to Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, and the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs. Is LaFleur the right guy to lead Jordan Love, Micah Parsons, and Green Bay back to the Super Bowl?

  1. As a Packer fan I’ll be honest I wanted MLF gone after that blown bears game but as the days have gone by I’ve wanted him back more and more. MLF is the guy he wasn’t completely to blame. OL was bad and can’t blame MLF for McManus’ catastrophe. Glad he’s back. Next year is the year

  2. I'm a Packer fan and I'm glad the Packers kept LaFleur. Feels like the smart, dispassionate decision.
But they Need to FIRE McManus!!

  3. Im a Packers fan and glad hes back. They were rolling before Kraft Parsons Wyatt and then Love all got hurt in a 10 quarter span. Lets not forget before Parsons was hurt even after Kraft they were up 9 on Denver @ Denver and just swept the Lions to go 9-3-1

  4. Keeping MLF was the right move. The next right move is getting rid of Stenovich or demoting him back to O-line coach, bring in a new playcaller at OC and have MLF delegate that responsibility while still playing a part in play design. Also a new DC when Hafley leaves and new ST Coach.

  5. A pattern is a great way to predict the future. 2026 packers, a solid team fighting for the division crown and bounced out of the playoffs.
    That os what was extended

  6. This was never not going to happen. Anyone suggesting otherwise was smoking something.

I think you need to remember that there are different kinds of fans. The vast majority of Packers fans (like most teams), never watch online content or comment on Youtube or Twitter. Across the NFL and most professional sports there has evolved a true silent majority. Their highest level of interaction with NFL shock talk is watching ESPN when they get home at night and have a beer. They try to go to one game a decade if they can afford it. They cheer for their team and boo their opponents and that's it.

The flip side is where you live. You live and breathe football stats and talk shows. You listen to all the crazy opinions people yell at the camera in order to get more interaction. You read all the comments people have about those crazy opinions. While this space certainly existed before, Gen Z has pumped it full of Meth and Coke and sent it on a rampage. Now, people talk about the crazy ideas like they are reality. For the most part they are not.

In Green Bay they are not, for damn sure. We don't want them, and truth be told, we kinda want to smack them most the time. Monday morning quarterbacking is fine, but honestly arguing for one of the most successful coaches in the NFL to be fired because he lost with 1/3 of his team injured, including some of its stars, is batshit, balls-out, howl at the moon lunacy. Keep that shit over in Minnesota, Wisconsin don't need it and don't want it.

  7. I'm sure Vikings, Bears, and Lions fans are happy about LeFemme being signed to an extension. Packer fans not so much.

LeFemme is a proven choker – many times over. He gets to the 2nd half of big games and starts trying to milk the clock with 30 minutes of football left to play.

His play calling is predictable, his playbook is stale, he wastes timeouts like they don’t matter, he routinely mismanages the clock.

Extending LeFemme is a classic example of failing upward.

I'm a decades long fan, but I don't watch the Packers much anymore – because of LeFemme.

  8. Vikings fans must be loving this news. Every chance the Packers finish 3rd or 4th in the NFC North next season with MLF back. The dude is a bust. Packers organisation doesn't want to improve.

  9. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Extending MLF is insanity and a guarantee that the Packers won't get near a SB while he's HC.

  10. The playing roster will be weaker next season with the tough salary cap decisions that need to be made and no money for big free agents signings. So really the Packers needed to upgrade their coaching staff just to stay level with where they are now. Extending MLF is a massive step in the wrong direction.

  11. It's joever. Dude telegraphs his first downs with a lead. Great on script but cannot adjust tow hat a defense is giving. Certainly doesn't call plays according to his personel. No wonder our first round pick was pissed this year. Lafraud lost that bears game going 3 and out 4 possessions in a row in chicago. Not the sex pest McManus.

  12. … because if the commanders could get a good dc and snag up an oc like McDaniel. Then they'd have jayden Daniels and Mike McDaniel lol. That allows Dan Quinn to meddle in all things culture related.
Reason that wouldn't happen, that could be an expensive staff 😂

  13. Sean Payton isn't the reason the Vikings lost against the Saints. You lost against the saints because of Brett Favre. As a life long Packers fan I witnessed Favre choke away a lot of playoff games. Favre never won a game when he was from behind by 17 points. He has one of the worst playoff records as a hall of fame quarterback. There are two falsehoods with Favre. That he was a come from behind quarterback and he's the "best" Green bay packers quarterback. Both Rodgers and Starr are better quarterbacks.

  14. Ok, Ziggy, love the SEAH content, but we've gotta straighten out this Angkor=Green Bay Packers thing! (Sorry the reaction is late, but after watching 20% of the program I had to go proctor 2 entrance exams….this job is really starting to interfere with my PFS fandom!!!)

You are so young you forget about a guy named Lombardi with a QB named Bart Starr or something, a period that was followed by an interminably long Dan Devine, Bart Starr (greatest car salesman in GB!) and whoever period. Then you get to what you think is Angkor. Rise and Fall and Rise and Fall–cycles. Angkor isn't a great model. For that you would be best going 2 major kingdoms over. Next time, try Myanmar, but for now check out the fantastic, soporific work by Vic Lieberman on administrative cycles in Burma. After becoming great, due to internal issues, the kingdom would hollow out until despite all their grandeur even the Bears could send an army in over the mountains and wipe everything out. Sometimes the full collapse could be avoided by declaring the Sangha corrupt and importing a new core group of pure monks from Sri Langka to retrain everyone and an invigorated, pure, powerful kingdom would develop, cross the mountains and whoop some Bear a$$. and the cycle continued. As Paul Farrington argues, though, it is a high-risk effort and could fail, hastening the end.

  15. Keeping Lefluer is a benefit for the Vikings. This shows the Packers are content with playoff appearances. The Superbowl is a bonus not the goal. Ive believed this since the 2015 season. The organization is more afraid of what could be worse; instead of playing to win a Superbowl. When you know a guy cant win a Superbowl you move on. Im dissappointed in policy. Wanted a guy who played to win. Tired of Wisconsin teams playing for the playoffs instead of playing for championships.

  16. The devil is in the details. I'm with Ziggy that it's rough to continue with MLF after 7 years and not have it more of the same (not winning out). However, if the side agreements and (miraculously) the coaching changes results in developing a bit more confidence and drive, then it could be good. MLF is good at what he is good at….but this combination and maybe his work load just doesn't work. Hoping for the best.

  17. So if one defensive player gets hurt, you are suddenly not a Super Bowl threat. I don’t see the Rams and Seahawks with that issue. Micha went down, and the defense sucked, the dline sucked and I’m not sure how his injury made Love and MLF choke away leads over and over and over again. Blaming injuries is weak. Look the raiders have Crosby, Geno, Bowers, not really that different than the Packers, nobody calls them a contender. And the choking didn’t start with the Parsons injury, it happened with the Browns, the Panthers, the Eagles. Playing the Broncos Parsons got hurt and the offense vanished in the second half and choked away a lead. The offense choking away leads happened with and without Parsons. Please explain how that’s a Super Bowl team? MLF is a coach full of excuses, the team makes excuses, and the fans make excuses. Other teams get hurt, and somehow make it, but the Packers quit. It’s been excuses for the last 4 years.

  18. Whatever! Who do the fans think they are going to get to replace LeFleur? Harbaugh? His results were the same as the Packers. LeFleur had a whole series of bad breaks this year. We actually still made it to the playoffs. But all the fans do is complain. Should we have beat the Bears? Absolutely! But after watching last night Bills, Broncos game I am beginning to think it doesn’t matter, because the bad or non calls by the refs totally change the outcomes of games. And if baseball had the outcomes fixed, why not the NFL…they are directly tied to betting.

  19. This is a commitment to mediocrity. It's not about the Bears loss, it is about tendencies that are pretty much the same every year we play under him.

  20. well the superbowl window has closed its honestly been open for this team for probably too long now. its all good when we dont win next year i get to call you all idiots

  21. I have never been so ashamed of the Packers as I am today, to reward a coach for barely making the playoffs, consistently choking, making the same stupid mistakes over and over again while every team in the division has taken turns winning it the Packers decide to settle for “good enough” and spit in the face of everything the Packers organization is suppose to stand for, relentlessly pursuing perfection because in the process you achieve excellence is the foundation that Vince Lombardi put in place and made a small town in Wisconsin into Title Town now this franchise is content to just sneak in to the playoffs, it’s absolutely disgraceful and none of the people in charge deserve to represent the Green Bay Packers, I will not watch another game until both MLF and Gutey are gone, it breaks my heart but I will not support this team if they decide to disregard everything that made it into one of americas most iconic franchises and spit in the face of their legacy and their fans. The Packers have lost their way and I hope they find themselves again soon
