They need to change the rule, because within the rules, it’s a smart attempt. Douchey, but smart.
There’s no clear path rule, there are no penalty kicks, so just award the team a touchdown if he trips him down.
It’s kind of sad how kickers have become such a specialized position that they can’t even perform one of the most basic fundamentals in the sport. George Blanda never slide-tackled anyone.
