Lineups with Maxey/VJ and 4 bench players needs to absolutely stop. They’re always horrible and the opposite team always goes on a run. It’s absolutely possible to space out the 4 players throughout 48min. Thankfully, Joel made a similar comments in his postgamej interview after the second loss to the cavs. He said that there should always be 2 of them on the floor, so all we can do is hope for an adjustment!
Side note: the VJ/PG second unit has been very great. Last game, I felt like Maxey came in too early in the 4th quarters. The second unit created a nice 7pts lead, that literally got killed in a matter of 2min after the lineup change. It’s not to say that Maxey caused the lead to evaporate, but the second unit were in a good rhythm and should’ve played longer before bringing in Maxey/Embiid imo.

So Nick Nurse is literally devolving into Doc Rivers 2.0 before our eyes with the all-bench units basically.
The best outcome of this regular season is being healthy and in 6th (or better but not at the expense of health)
This teams season starts in mid April.
Your sanity is best served not thinking to hard about what they are doing until then
Are we really pretending that VJ and Grimes are THAT far apart right now? Grimes isn’t a regular bench player like we used to see with Doc Rivers doing this. On many nights, VJ is the better player and I don’t think there’s any doubt that will be a star/superstar at some point, but the difference isn’t much right now on most of the time.
* VJ – 16/5/4 in 36mpg
* Grimes 14/4/4 in in 32mpg
Those were some putrid stretches
