BREAKING: Atlanta Braves Shortstop Ha-Seong Kim to Miss 4-5 Months

Atlanta Braves lose newly signed shortstop Ha-Seong Kim for 4–5 months after a hand injury setback, throwing the team’s infield plans into chaos just before the season. With uncertainty swirling around Kim’s return and lingering concerns over his health and recent performance, can the Braves trust Mauricio Dubón to step in and solidify the position, or does Alex Anthopoulos need to hunt for outside help?

Jake Mastroianni breaks down the potential outcomes for Atlanta’s shortstop spot, evaluating Dubón’s fit, emergency backup options, and possible free agent signings like Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Additional coverage spotlights the Braves’ latest international prospect haul, including Jose Manon and Starlyn De La Cruz, and gives rapid-fire updates as NL East rivals like the Mets and Phillies make splashy moves. Will early injuries derail Atlanta’s season, or is this just the first test of the Braves’ offseason depth?

  1. Nick Allen is the best answer. If he is available. His defense will save more runs than any of these others can save or generate. Just get Allen back and quit looking. Develop your 2 best in the minors.

  2. Look this even makes a Braves look stupider and all you people who were going crazy, but the braid is not signing beat signing the bo . Are you were pushing for Kim and now he’s hurt. He’s gonna miss four or five months which means she’s gonna miss part of the season again and you all look stupid. I was telling you used the bracelet signed bo They could’ve got them for a less than what he ended up signing with the Mets and you could’ve gone for four or five years rather than try to do it a one year deal with Kim and now you’re back trying to figure out how to solve the shortstop position because you wanted Kim because you thought he’s a better defensive player and now you know you’re not getting Kim as default but you’re not getting as Office and your back. The brakes are now looking to try to find a shortstop kind. Look stupid right now don’t you?

  3. Injuries happen, the Braves are snake bit and life ain't fair. But that's not what concerns this fan, it's the current 40 man roster construction. Alex Anthopoulos has the minimum thirteen position players, whether 26 man or 40 man and top heavy with 26 pitchers. Another proven, veteran starting pitcher is still needed, the offensive roster construction is short sighted at best. With this injury exposing a questionable decision making process on the part of our Braves GM.

  4. ICE? As in penguins, igloos, and eskimos… and ice? -Cool Runnings

    😂😅😂😅

    I feel for you, HS.

His immediate thought must have been "Oh [ice sheeeeeeeet]!", after he fell.

  5. Dubon can not start SS he is an 80 wRC+ bat who literally can’t hit righties which is all he will see.

They also have no one to play for Yaz besides Eli white when they face lefties so you will have multiple auto outs in the lineup again.

They have to add someone at least IKF level + SP

  6. Let me get this off my chest. I think we need to start to look to scrutinize our strength and conditioning coaches here. There is something they must be doing that is over taxing the players, or the opposite, and they aren't building the players up strong enough. Enough messing around. Time to make a blockbuster trade for a SS that will be here for good, even if we have to package Elder and the 26th pick for someone.

  7. Losing HSK is huge and matters they are a worst team now. There’s a good chance they are out of it by July again. This offense can’t afford a bad bat in it the lineup the last two years proved that

  8. Dubon was supposed to be rotating into the lineup to give other positions rest, and to help with load management. Now with Dubon in the lineup everyday, the other injury prone players will now have more workload, and this can snowball again. We need a replacement, and I think it's time to stop tip toeing around. Get make a trade for a real shortstop. Never should have not signed Dansby though. That's going to be a huge regret for AA.

  9. We had one of the best shortstops in the game and those brilliant owners refused to sign him. Say what what you will, but this was created by the Braves and its management. Stick to know what you do, dudes and let baseball people manage baseball.

  10. And once again AA has made a spectacularly failure of a move by burning 20 mil on somebody who probably is going to be close to getting forced out of leagues. If not taking minimum a year deals, he's way too injured to play much more
